Re: Culinary Hot Takes
I'm having trouble trying to figure out what they're going for here.
Cuban, Cajun, half a complement of BBQ standards, TexMex, New Mexican, Sonoran, and...tri-trip/Californian Mexican food vs everything else?
But really, when you split California, Arizona, and New Mexico, you get the food from that state anyway. Soooooo, I don't get it.
Seems like an elaborate way to jazz up Tennessee/KC BBQ vs Carolina/Texas BBQ.

Just sharpened my knives with a whetstone for the first time. Something very zen about that. I think it's going to be an activity I really enjoy in the future. Not a bad effort for my first go after watching a few youtube vids. Got a couple of really clean thin cuts of paper after some work on a few knives that haven't been sharpened in a good 3 years.

And while I normally wouldn’t say no, surrounded by all of those other choices, 24 almost turns my stomach.

No way to pick just one.
Basically I’m the same as you but I don’t mind a cucumber occasionally. It was always around growing up.

I like cucumbers but they make me burp. Need to be pickled or maybe mixed in something like tzatziki.

And to be fair, I’ve never tried liverwurst. Big fan of mustard and onions though...

Have you seen the shrimp po’ boy Ava’s in Kenilworth has had on their sandwich menu the last week or two?

Too many good ones to choose.
Keep 16, 39 and 40 away from me though.

I’m pretty sure my #1 sandwich isn’t on here. Rachel for life.
Have not. Still have not been over that way.

17, 5, and 14 and I could be a happy man.
Though I like a 32 and 34 is great, it needs tomato.

Too many good sandwiches to pick just one, but I absolutely love 1, 5, 11 and 20.
A liverwurst sandwich is really good, especially if it's on rye bread. I would omit the pickles, though.

Fuck #10. I’ve made my stance clear on this before.

That would definitely be in my bottom 5.

Re: Culinary Hot Takes
I can’t argue at all.
I’ve never eaten a #31 that way. It is meant to be eaten open faced (on a non-steamed bagel).
Never had #’s 4, 15, 16, 28 or 38 but they look good. Not sure about #25.

I love cheese, and I love fish, but putting them both together should be a war crime.

Re: Culinary Hot Takes
For some reason, this is the only sandwich that makes it work. Probably because it's barely fish and barely cheese.

Re: Culinary Hot Takes
This sandwich is an homage to the fillet of fish and one of the best fish based sandwiches I've ever had (twice in three days). It drops the cheese.

Re: Culinary Hot Takes
When I was an undergrad in Gainesville, two guys from Tampa opened a small Cuban restaurant (just north of Burrito Bros., and in the same building as Maui Teriyaki, phxgators). They drove fresh Cuban bread up from Tampa every day (at least a 2 hour drive each way). Needless to say, I don't think they were in business very long.
Until everything is less insane, I'm mixing weed with wine.
Re: Culinary Hot Takes
You need to remedy that. It truly is a sandwich you would enjoy. (relevant Reddit thread)

Oh, the croque madame is a genius sandwich. I make them all the time, though I don't use dijon mustard, or any mustard for that matter. I use different combinations of cheese(s), various types of ham, and vary the bread. I usually put hot sauce on my fried egg, the Trader Joe's Green Dragon sauce is great for this.

Re: Culinary Hot Takes
The BLT is a great sandwich. But sometimes I will use kale instead of lettuce. And ham or even turkey in place of the bacon. Tomatoes are right out, go straight for the avocado. The Sybian wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 11:11 amOh, the croque madame is a genius sandwich. Re: Culinary Hot Takes
I should clarify my most eaten, fried chicken is my #1 favorite forever, but the Rachel wouldn't be there if I didn't also love it so your point stands. I like it over a standard reuben because its just as good or better cold and, if cold, cole slaw over sauerkraut provides a textural advantage. (And, like a dork, I really do love turkey.)

AB's sandwich does look good to me (never had one.)
And, american cheese is the worst cheese.

Wiki begs to disagree:
This cites John Kleber's seminal works The Kentucky Encyclopedia and the Encyclopedia of Louisville. The preeminent source of all things Kentucky.Cheddar cheese or American cheese may be added for the sauce. Alternatives for garnishes include tomatoes, mushroom slices, and, very rarely, canned peaches.[1][3]
