I’m seriously saying what’s being portrayed as a neutral or positive statement is clearly not so. “I won’t block it” is like one step to the left of a republican promising to block it.
The clear answer will come if things go right from November to January. If they do and Trump and family are pursued for their nonstop crimes in office, we can revisit this and I will wholeheartedly apologize for reading his comment as the perpetual reach-across-the-aisle-to-heal-and-move-on this Dem leadership fetishizes.

“I won’t block it” is the strongest statement anyone who values the rule of law should be saying.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.
I know Simon (and his wife) very well from our time at the DLC. Very sharp guy, who spent a lot of his time at that organization fighting with powers that be, and eventually leaving because he disagreed with a lot of their "split the middle, suck up to corporate dollar" approach. He influenced me into getting the heck out of there (even though it was unwitting on his part.)
You can lead a horse to fish, but you can't fish out a horse.
This all makes me so depressed, annoyed, and angry.
If the Democrats take this thing and there isn't a major reckoning with people going to jail and it's a simple "moving forward" from the past, I'm just not going to vote ever again.
One party is so conspicuously corrupt and the other does nothing to stop it. I don't feel like being complicit if there's no accountability.

I doubt this will happen but what the Democrats really need is a James Polk-type candidate to come in and say "I'm going to run for president to help heal the country and I'm only going to serve one term and I'm going to have a vice president who will be the standard bearer in 2024".
That perfect ticket in that scenario would be Biden-Harris.

Wanted Abrams (to get Georgia) or Duckworth but I’m not unhappy with this pick. I think it helps more than hurts. California is already in the bag, but this will make things very interesting.
Damn Brian! Can you tell me the powerball numbers for the next drawing?

Nominating a black woman gives Trump a new lightning rod, but this one is capable of zapping back. Looking forward to her being the designated assassin, while Uncle Joe floats above the fray and remains "presidential" (our classic understanding of presidential)

As depressing as the 25-30 percent of racist Americans are, it is not a winning strategy to be outright racist as fuck.
Trump got a TON of leeway in 2016 on this issue, because we hadn't had to live through 3.5 years of this utter fuckery. People are tired of it. Sick and tired.

This is one thing we can agree on. Pick anyone from the list of Abrams/AOC/Ilhan/Pressley/Tlaib/etc and they could all do an equal or better job punching back, but they don't have the benefit of the press already deciding whose side their on. The exact same words from Harris will get different mainstream treatment than from one of the others mentioned.

I kinda assumed that was the plan - though maybe I assumed that because of Brian’s post. That’s why I’ve been anti-Warren as VP. She’ll be 75 in 2024.

Trump hates women, he especially hates black women and he definitely hates strong, black women, so from that standpoint alone this is a home run.
Wouldn’t it be great to see Pence squirm in the VP debate if Kamela pulled a Trump and started following Mike around the stage. “Mother, forgive me for being this close to another woman in public!!! No, that was a pen in my pocket! I swear!”

You think Pence gets erections from being close to women?

Fair point. But Indian/Jamaican is so exotic in Indiana, he can’t not be titillated.
