I think it was pre-existing but people are mailing because it’s a pandemic and being around others is dangerous now. I’m sure the legal grounds are solid but it’s ethical shit.

Re: 2020 Presidential Election: Joe Biden vs Whoever the Republicans Nominate
I've seen enough juries fuck up enough special verdict forms that I have no confidence in most voters' ability to follow directions to vote by mail.
I think it was a mistake by the Dems to focus on that. The focus should be on early in-person voting and providing masks for those who do it.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

This is going to come down to the Dems not having the spine to burn it down over whether discretionary invalidations skewed in the Republicans favor, isn't it.Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 11:27 amI've seen enough juries fuck up enough special verdict forms that I have no confidence in most voters' ability to follow directions to vote by mail.

Re: 2020 Presidential Election: Joe Biden vs Whoever the Republicans Nominate
Not the way it's looking. I'm all for being vigilant, but it the election comes down to North Carolina, the Dems are pretty well fucked anyway probably. The NC and SC stuff is important because of the Senate races in those states, but Trump looks like his goose is cooked.mister d wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 12:10 pmThis is going to come down to the Dems not having the spine to burn it down over whether discretionary invalidations skewed in the Republicans favor, isn't it.Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 11:27 amI've seen enough juries fuck up enough special verdict forms that I have no confidence in most voters' ability to follow directions to vote by mail.

In fact, if you want a conspiracy theory, I think all of this is a setup so that when Trump dies in a couple of weeks they'll say it was a "heart attack" instead of COVID.

When I say "come down to", I'm including the senate in the equation, otherwise we're right back to "of course the dems can't _______, the republicans will just block it".
Re: 2020 Presidential Election: Joe Biden vs Whoever the Republicans Nominate
I don't think Harrison has a real chance in SC, though that NC race should be tight and come down to some fuckery. Looks like the likely worst case for the Dems at this point is 50/50 though. That would be bad because they'd have to have Manchin and Sinema on board with whatever they do, so obviously getting to 52-48 would be much better. Don't sleep on that Alaska race. Sullivan looks to be in some real trouble.

So +14, +16 and +10 in last two days nationally...that's the area this needs to be in to make this work.
I bet the internal polling on Trump with Covid was brutal - which is likely why he bolted the hospital when he did and staged a bunch of propaganda shots. Not gonna work. People starting to finally see through that shit.

So, like we said back in April/May/June... If he doesn't formulate a coherent response to COVID AND if people continue to die at around 1000/day. He was always going to be in a hole.
4 weeks out, he gets a pretty bad case of it, the WH is a hotspot, and now the military brass is getting swept up.
I said this before the first debate, has there ever been a worse set of circumstances leading up to an election?
I get the anxiety on this board, but holy fucking shit.

And sadly if this was a normal election I wouldn't be tossing and turning at night, and Biden would be +30.. But this isn't normal and his base certainly isn't normal.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 1:01 pm So, like we said back in April/May/June... But for a Canadian, it's disturbing as hell.
Man, they make it hard for you guys to vote - I have never seen a lineup like that.

Re: 2020 Presidential Election: Joe Biden vs Whoever the Republicans Nominate
It's because of the way states have their own interdependence despite being collectively unified under a federal system.
As a miliary dude, I was emailed my ballot and then I emailed it back on the 21st September (because voter rolls showed me being deployed even though I'm not currently). I called the clerk's office and they said it's no biggie and to go ahead, fill it out, and return it.
Early voting in New Mexico doesn't actually begin until 17 October.

We vote for one thing at a time. Their ballot has 20 questions on it.

Bold strategy Cotton, let’s see how this works out for the party in power three weeks before the election...

WOW!! Trump just called off all conoid relief negotiations and the market tanked..
Will he make it to November 3rd?
Will he make it to November 3rd?
Re: 2020 Presidential Election: Joe Biden vs Whoever the Republicans Nominate
So does Trump wanna win or does he know he is totally fucked so he is just driving the country into a deeper mess for Biden to dig it out?
Re: 2020 Presidential Election: Joe Biden vs Whoever the Republicans Nominate
Don't look deeper than the market. If he knowingly tanked it, that means his interests sold last week before he was hospitalized. He'll create an artificial wave later this week or next week and it'll be all gains.

This is pretty news worthy..
Seems like more and more are going against him. Brain said September we will see Repubs start to distance themselves. I fully expect some to start to do that after today.
Especially Collins, Ernest, Graham, Tillis, and others who are in tough election bids.

Re: 2020 Presidential Election: Joe Biden vs Whoever the Republicans Nominate
I suspect the “no Covid relief bill before Election Day” proclamation is heavily influenced by McConnell. Mitch wants his 6-3 Supreme Court above all else and is probably willing to take his chances negotiating either in a lame duck session or post-inauguration. Because the obvious political play for Trump would be to push for an aggressive economic relief bill in the next 4 weeks.
Re: 2020 Presidential Election: Joe Biden vs Whoever the Republicans Nominate
If more -15/-16 national polls start to come out in the next week, especially after the debate next week (assuming DJT is healthy enough), then McConnell et al will have no choice but to throw him overboard to try and save the Senate. These are cruel, vicious people and they have no special loyalty to Donald Trump.

There's no way Biden should agree to a debate on October 15 and put the folks in the debate facility at risk.brian wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 5:24 pm If more -15/-16 national polls start to come out in the next week, especially after the debate next week (assuming DJT is healthy enough), then McConnell et al will have no choice but to throw him overboard to try and save the Senate. Even though the next debate is a town hall format and will highlight Biden's superior ability to relate to human beings as compared to Trump.
The VP debate tomorrow night is three blocks from my son's apartment. Too bad we won't get any public appearances out of it however.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.
Re: 2020 Presidential Election: Joe Biden vs Whoever the Republicans Nominate
On the other hand, the thought of Trump gasping for breath on live TV kinda works for me.

Joe is attacking again, so that’s good.
