Gase should be the first NFL coach to be fired at halftime. And it would still be too late for the NYJ.

They wouldn’t be any worse by record if they played without any coaches, right?

Peyton made a lot of guys a lot of money by making them look better than they are, but no one owes him more than Adam Gase.

Re: NFL Week 6
Going for two when you're up seven on the road against an undefeated opponent with an offense you haven't been able to stop is actually a really good decision!

I think the refs in the Rams-Niners game hit up multiple dispensaries earlier today. Some bizarre calls and extended ref conferences.

Yeah are we acting like they would have stopped them on the 2 pt try?Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Sun Oct 18, 2020 7:09 pm Going for two when you're up seven on the road against an undefeated opponent with an offense you haven't been able to stop is actually a really good decision!

I like it, especially in the regular season. Anytime you can put a game into garbage time, do it.
It made a lot more sense than what Riverboat Ron did. Dude, you’re playing the Giants! You think they’re scoring in OT?

That's what I couldn't understand with the arguments I saw against it on Twitter (and Rich Gannon). Why would we believe the Texans would stop the 2-point try if they weren't going to stop the TD?Gunpowder wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 6:57 amYeah are we acting like they would have stopped them on the 2 pt try?Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Sun Oct 18, 2020 7:09 pm Going for two when you're up seven on the road against an undefeated opponent with an offense you haven't been able to stop is actually a really good decision!

I mean, they stopped them with turnovers twice that half, but OK.

Re: NFL Week 6
yes, and that's why you go for the two. because if turnovers are the only way you're stopping your opponent they aren't getting the 7 anyway if you do force the turnover
but ok

The dolphins did good for survivor - but Lions were ok too! Glad I stayed away from the Pats game for survivor - I would have been comfortable playing it and really didnt see that coming.
Re: NFL Week 6
I got KO'd by the Patriots. One of my things when I have my weekly visit is to ask my kids who they think, and both of them asked why I wasn't simply going against the Jets. 12 and 9, and they knew better than me. I second-guessed that all Sunday morning.

Re: NFL Week 6
When are the Eagles going to start Hurts? That guy looks like he'd be a lot of fun to watch on Sundays. At least he'd be able to evade some of the sacks that Wentz got buried by yesterday. BTW, that PI call at the end of the game was utter bullshit.

If you looked very closely you could see him swallow his mask and put on another one after that call.

Re: NFL Week 6
If it wasn't cool and rainy in Buffalo, I'd say that the over (55) is the bet.
5.5 a bit high, but the Bills were thrashed last week. Milano, Edmunds and White (three defensive standouts) are banged up, as is John Brown and a starting guard is out...
With heavy heart, I recommend taking the Chiefs.

Re: NFL Week 6
What do you think is more likely - the Texans converting a 2pt attempt, or the Texans stopping the Titans on a 2pt attempt? That's really all it boils down to (assuming the XP is 100% to convert).

Not related to this convo, but everyone relying on universal 2 pt attempt rates has a very ~2005 sabermetric or individual Corsi feel to it.

Re: NFL Week 6
I think the defense plays more relaxed if they have an 8-point lead than a 7-point lead. After missing the conversion, there is way more pressure on the defense to get a stop. They nearly stopped them anyway. It was 3rd and goal after two stops inside the 10 and a TD that would've stood as no TD had they called it that way.

Re: NFL Week 6
I can't see it making a huge difference to the defense if they are defending a 7 or an 8 point lead. In their heads they are trying to prevent a tie in both scenarios.Giff wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 2:35 pmI think the defense plays more relaxed if they have an 8-point lead than a 7-point lead. such a weird game

Re: NFL Week 6
What the hell happened to the Bills offense? They can't run at all this year and now they suddenly can't pass either.
If last week was a "bad" Josh Allen game, the Bills are fine because outside of a few throws I thought he was actually pretty good. I haven't seen much of this game though - the hell is going on?

I'm not sure if the weather is a lot worse than it looks or what. I feel like that's a factor that we can't account for given the Bills' offensive performance so far and the Chiefs' reliance on an admittedly super-effective run gameGunpowder wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 6:27 pm What the hell happened to the Bills offense? ETA of course as I type this the Bills just march down the field

I think he's locking onto WRs again. I haven't watched much of the Ravens at all this year but it's probably similar for Jackson as well if I had to guess.

Mahomes has a TD pass in last 16 straight games. Last team to shut him out is Detroit, inexplicably enough.

That game was one of the dumber games that ever happened. Just a completely weird experience IIRC

Re: NFL Week 6
The NFL should have a 3-point try from the 18-yard line (where the ball is placed for PAT). How awesome would a 3-point fake PAT be?

Yes it was. The Chiefs won largely because of a ~100 yard fumble return by Breeland that happened after everyone had stopped playing

Yes, and he missed a bunch of easy throws. I can remember three off the top of my head that stand out as brutally bad throws.
While he didn't get sacked often (if at all?) the rush disrupted him. The Chiefs had no problem at all sending blitzers and playing man and it mostly paid off.
It's also worth noting that the Bills got three third-down conversions via Chiefs penalties.

It's early, but primetime Dalton has made the trip to the Dallas huddle.

I'm feeling good about myself now. I'm taking the Giants at 13/1 to win the division. Only Philly in the way.degenerasian wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 6:07 pmI think the Giants looked decent against Dallas yesterday. They have a home run weapon in Slayton, a set QB in Jones and they might be getting accustomed to Jason Garrret's offense. Their defense is decent so I'm not sure the Kyle Allen or Alex Smith led Washington offense can move the ball. The Washington O-Line is awful. And the Giants are 3 point favorites for what it's worth and for survivor, this will be your only chance to take the Giants all season.brian wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 5:28 pmI mean I get someone has to win that game, but what in the world would possess you to think that's a better bet than almost any other game? You might as well throw a dart at a dartboard if you're going to take a 0-5 team as a Survivor pick unless the entire other team has been in a planecrash the day before or something.
