Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
So it sounds like one option is a quick impeachment by the House but the Senate might hold off on action?
I suppose if they’re not going to get 16-17 R votes by 1/20 to remove him, or after that to ban him, this is the way to go. Warnock and Ossoff won’t be in until 1/22 or 1/23 anyway.
There’s a pandemic on so maybe we need the Senate approving Biden’s nominees right away.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.
Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
Yeah I read that given it would be post-term, the senate could convene a committee to review all evidence, etc - whereas if he were a current president it would need to be done before the entire senate body, halting all other activities.Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 6:15 pmSo it sounds like one option is a quick impeachment by the House but the Senate might hold off on action?

Hugh is the pundit who drives me the craziest. He's had 3 OpEds in the Washington Post this week:Pruitt wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 6:42 pm"you're an empty toilet waiting to be filled with shit."DaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 5:42 pm My personal 'Fuck that guy' Hugh Hewitt gets taken to cleaners by Seth Rogan...
Awesome
1/4: Objecting to the electoral college vote is no constitutional crisis
1/6: Trump has shown an incomprehensible indifference to mayhemWe are a constitutional republic. If the individuals charged with casting their vote behave within the bounds of the Constitution and their rights and obligations, all is well. Any time someone declares a crisis of democracy when they are in fact simply objecting to political actions or rhetoric, they are displaying an ignorance of the Constitution and its evolution to the present.
This state of hyper-alarm — of Paul Revere-like cries that “The democracy is threatened! The democracy is threatened!” — is corrosive to civil society. It is fueled by extremes and feeds the media’s endless pseudo-panic about everything President Trump does or says. Just about anyone who has proclaimed a “crisis” about something in the United States — save the pandemic — is ignorant of law and precedent, sometimes willfully so. They do not understand or refuse to admit that any process allowed by law is never a crisis.
1/8: A fast-track impeachment would not be justice. It would be pointless revenge.Networks addicted to cringe-inducing shout-fests between Trump-Derangement-Syndrome-suffering pundits and blind-to-his-faults Trump apologists are culpable too for the atmosphere of mutual contempt.
3 op eds in one week...and each completely opposite to the other. An impressive piece of work. Many object to the term “TDS” — Trump Derangement Syndrome. But it rightly applies to anyone who can only see the bad things Trump has done, not his real and lasting accomplishments. Many with TDS have been raging about him since 2015, and the only thing they care about concerning those 74 million American citizens is that they come to understand themselves as stupid and/or blind.
Whatever the impeachment chorus is, it isn’t principled, it isn’t concerned with justice and it isn’t concerned with the future. TDS lives deeply within many of the proponents of rapid impeachment. Of concern for the country, well, concern for that part of the country they don’t inhabit, there is none. A shameful week finds ways to continue to fall off the floor.

I can’t believe BB is going to go for this.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.
Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
Yeah, he did a lot of taking about how he listened to players during BLM protests and learned a lot. I think he even talked about it at his year end press conference...so this could be bad.
Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
Article says the Pats didn’t comment on the story so maybe the WH announced it before getting BB on board (or affirming he is still on board after last week).

We're just lucky that these people flew in from all over the place and thus didn't bring weapons. The next time, they'll have them.

I distrust anything from Eric Garland by default so if that officer’s suicide turns out to be anything other than tragic someone post another source.

Same, but I can't even remember why at this point. I just know I lump him in with the lady who took no pleasure in reporting Bannon's imminent execution.
