Really enjoying Coney Island. Probably the first one that jumps out to me.

The mall line is my kind of thing even if having her sing it made no sense.
Definitely rocketed to near the top of my Coney Island song list.

It's definitely more understated than usual.

Yeah, this new Taylor Swift album is really good. I only recently listened to her previous album for the first time and really liked it too. I think this one might even be better.
She's an amazingly talented songwriter.

On my second listen, and I'm a strong disagree thus far. folklore is much better, IMO.

Nearly done with the second run through, and it's growing on me. Just like a National album.

Re: Getting the spins
So, I had been hearing about Kid Cudi's new album. I knew the guy's name, but had never listened to him, so I fired it up. While listening to a new artist, I like to read up on their Wikipedia page to get a sense of who they are, what all they've done, etc. I saw that Cudi actually put out a rock album a few years ago under the moniker WZRD and it did well on some rock charts. Curious, I checked it out and am listening to it now.
It's not good. Don't bother. I appreciate the effort, but maybe stick to rap, Cudi.

Can you steal from yourself? I guess John Fogerty knows the answer to that.

Watching the Song Exploder episode about “When You Were Young” and it’s making me already miss the desert and I’ve only been moved away for four days.

In 2016, I saw the Devendorf brothers and a dude from Beirut formed a side project and was super excited to hear it then realize it wasn't Beirut's lead and the album was instrumental. In 2020, I saw the Devendorf brothers and a dude from Beirut formed a side project and was super excited to hear it then realize it wasn't Beirut's lead and the album was instrumental. Exact same reaction that I only realized I'd had a few years prior about a minute into song one of album two.

OK now I want an album of Jason Isbell covering Bon Iver songs.

Such great songs. That guitar sounds great as well. Nice to see Isbell rocking the quaranhair.

Can't stop listening to this. Ridiculous voice on this guy.

Death Cab covered King Of Carrot Flowers Pt 1 and I was prepared to hate it, but...it's pretty damn good.

Re: Getting the spins
Giff or someone ... "Old Old Fashioned" by Frightened Rabbit sounds like a Counting Crows song in the post-Recovering the Satellites era and I can't place it even looking at the titles.
Re: Getting the spins
Other than it sounding like it could be a Counting Crows song, the only song I even heard a little resemblance to at some point was "Mrs. Potters Lullaby". And this was on Saturday while I was driving that I thought this, so don't ask me which part. I just wanted to make sure you knew I saw this.

Ok, then that's it because it was the closest I was able to get. I was about 65% sure but didn't want to skew you either way.

Are you guys familiar with Amanda Fish? I've been going down a rathole of listening to her on Youtube.

I'm really just mad at myself for getting so excited for great music after Blue and Pinkerton. Should have tempered my expectations.

I’m sure you National heads hate it, but I’m digging the new LNZNDRF album.

I haven't listened, but I do love the Devendorfs. And Ben Lanz. Not sure why they didn't invite Kyle though.

4 songs in, and it's really good. I wasn't a huge fan of the opener, but I like the rest. It's got an early 90's indie lo-fi feel to it. I can't quite place the band they remind me of. Swervedriver, maybe?

Re: Getting the spins
Yeah, I could see that. I was thinking something more like The Secret Machines. "Now Here Is Nowhere" is still one of my favorite albums of the 21st century.govmentchedda wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 9:29 am4 songs in, and it's really good.
