Depends on what he does in the second half? A City goal forces them to score twice to win outright so sticking with this lineup means he's committed to being defensive.

4 of the 5 soccer teams I hate the most in the entire world are in the Semis.

Can't do it...
This is what happens when teams you can't stand play each other and there's no pool!

So Jovan K and RunDMB will be the only USMNTers with a semi or further in UEFA Champions League if this holds.

Pretty sure he agrees.
Re: Champions League 2020-2021
I get the anger at the ESL clubs, but then, the other side is UEFA and FIFA, so ... it's a bit murky. I can say that if they kick those teams out, I hate it for the players involved. And the only reason PSG didn't join yet is because of the World Cup in Qatar. I'm sure they are 100% planning on being a part.
Totally Kafkaesque

Re: Champions League 2020-2021
Do we know what the basic fan in Europe thinks about this? Not the activist types on social media, but the people who go to games? As much as I love seeing Domzale take on Young Boys (hey!), or Slavia Sofia take on Barcelona, does anyone watch those games? Wouldn't the basic fans rather see more games between the big boys?
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Think of it as, do you want to watch more of Dodgers-Yankees instead of Royals-Twins?

Re: Champions League 2020-2021
My biggest issue is that the teams have to win to get into Champions League. In a Super League, one of those owners could start coasting, quit investing in his team, sink in the Premier/Spain/Serie A standings but get to stay in Super League anyway because it is a restricted party. Certainly limited motivation to try to win in their regular league - rest the guys in those games, play them in Super League games.

The amount of loans, and don't let it be missed here, these are fucking MORE loans that these awful businesses are taking out, will make it impossible for anyone but the founding 15 teams to have high priced talent. It's a recipe for disaster that's going to take the whole sport down with it.

And it is incredibly cowardly of these owners to hide behind a press release and not say anything while their managers and players are the ones who have to face the media due to having to play a match.
Bamford’s interview is fantastic. I thought Klopp was really poignant too, his emotion really came through as he kept catching himself mid sentence so he wouldn’t get in trouble with his ownership.

Re: Champions League 2020-2021
A good point. And what happens when a team - let's assume it's Tottenham because they'd probably be the Timberwolves of this league - gets to week 20 of the Super League with a shitty record and no hope? What then?sancarlos wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 7:15 pm My biggest issue is that the teams have to win to get into Champions League. Re: Champions League 2020-2021
I'm curious as to the 'criteria' for the inclusion of the other 5-8 teams. Who makes those decisions? What teams will be willing to sign on? Will those teams be washed out after one year, to be replaced by someone else?
Re: Champions League 2020-2021
and how many will be owned by Red Bull?DaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 1:01 pm I'm curious as to the 'criteria' for the inclusion of the other 5-8 teams. Who makes those decisions? Horner, Verstappen, and Perez would be one hell of a front line.

Re: Champions League 2020-2021
First US International to ever score against Real Madrid
Most goals by a US International in UCL (Run DMB had 4 in 12 games...his form for PSV during that run was phenomenal)
Youngest Chelsea player to score in Semifinals or later (this is a bit of a reach for a stat)
Would be great to see him make a final and play. Subotic (I know) lost in 2013 final with Dortmund (also most UCL appearance by an American) and Kirovki has a winners medal for 96/97 campaign but did not see the field after the group stages.

PSG has gotta be dying after that game. Both of those goals should have been stopped.
Re: Champions League 2020-2021
Both would be on the defense, right? Feels like 90-a lot percent of the time the KDB ball is touched by someone on the way in.

Re: Champions League 2020-2021
Here's the first one:
Navas was kinda hung out to dry, but he's gotta be on that.
And then the second:
How did that sneak through the wall?

Re: Champions League 2020-2021
Navas had to wait, as it looked like the guy running at the far post (Foden?) was going to get a touch on it. Really tough play, because if he goes for the cross and the attacker gets a touch, he is diving out of the way of that shot. From the reverse angle behind the keeper, it looked like the attacker was going to get there.
