This list hurts my brain a bit.
I mean, Bluey is a great show. But it is an animated 11 minute series.

Re: Best TV Sitcoms of All Time
Schitt's Creek at 100 was all I needed to see. Granted, it's impossible to compare and rate shows, especially when they are crossing all sorts of genres (SpongeBob a SitCom?), decades, platforms and even including a bunch of shows from different countries. But still, some horrendous decisions all around.Pruitt wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 4:47 pmStopped reading at #97.EdRomero wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 4:24 pm https://www.rollingstone.com/tv/tv-list ... 0-1163263/

Re: Best TV Sitcoms of All Time
Family Guy doesn't make the top 100, but fucking NewsRadio does? If that show makes the list, where's Just Shoot Me?
eta: if you're going to add South Park, and also build out a list of 99 shows not as good as the Simpsons, then you need to include Family Guy. I must've missed it.
Also...Third Rock from the Sun needs to be on that list. And despite the fact the show sucked, so does Married with Children.
Oh, and Soap is ranked way too low at 87.

You can just stop right there w/ Newsradio slander.
Re: Best TV Sitcoms of All Time
I mean, the list is garbage for many reasons, but it's sorta LOL to see it in the top 50 sitcoms of all time. If Phil Hartman wasn't murdered, it doesn't even crack the top 200, no?

It should. It was hilarious. NBC treated it like shit, yanking it around the schedule, but it was awesome.
Re: Best TV Sitcoms of All Time
I think people reflexively hate NewsRadio in retrospect these days because of Joe Rogan and Andy Dick though maybe that’s just me.

NewsRadio was understated humor. I mean, it was good, but I don't think I ever considered it the best of what's on (when it aired).

In that everyone says they were great to establish credibility, but most have never actually watched/listed to them?

News radio was about five years ahead of its time if not more.

A fat guy constantly screaming at his wife while threatening to hit her is hilarious. Even funnier when he is abusive to his mentally challenged best friend.Johnny Carwash wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 7:54 pmIn that everyone says they were great to establish credibility, but most have never actually watched/listed to them?
Schitt’s Creek is a good show. Probably not worthy of the hype and winning every Emmy, but it’s better than half the shows on that list.

ETA: No "Father Ted," but "A Different World?" I guess actually being funny wasn't a criterion.

To be fair, Rogan wasn’t muscle head/steroid freak/mma guy/ podcast mogul back then. Andy Dick was the same, but he was funny on that show. I watched it because Hartman and Foley were funny as hell on that show.

Certainly. I only meant it as someone who never really got into it during its run. Also, I don't think it was confirmed that AD was a sex batterer at the time either.bfj wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 9:02 amTo be fair, Rogan wasn’t muscle head/steroid freak/mma guy/ podcast mogul back then. Re: Best TV Sitcoms of All Time
I don't think NewsRadio was bad by any stretch, but don't really get where anyone thinks it was a great show. I probably saw the first four seasons or so and it was solid, if unspectacular. If someone wants to put it on a top 100 list of best sitcoms, then fine but I don't see where it really broke any kind of new ground or did anything especially interesting or memorable. Could say that for a lot of shows on the list like Schitt's Creek, etc. but considering most stuff on TV is outright crap, if you're going 100 shows deep, then there's even gonna be some chaff on that list.
As much as I don't care for it, something like Letterkenny being on the list makes more sense because at least it's fairly original.

Seeing that Rolling Stone put it out is reason enough for me to skip it.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Number 45 is Paul Konerko with 439.

Yeah, they were fine and pretty good as bit role players... But you showed up for the Foley and Hartman moments.
And Maura Tierney. Such a cutie.

Re: Best TV Sitcoms of All Time
I started watching that first season and couldn't get into it basically because of that description, but the second was really good.
Still need to get around to the last two seasons.
