Re: Hurricane Ida
Jeebus. This looks like the sort of damage in Alabama in 2011...
Re: Hurricane Ida
Was just coming to post that. Crazy, and in an area where they don’t know how to deal with tornadoes.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

I mean...fuck.
Re: Hurricane Ida
Kids just reminded me that we met a family from Mullica Hill last week. I think they’re still down here at their beach block hyper-house so hopefully OK (and able to weather any damage to their home). Guy is apparently the mango-king of Philly?

Re: Hurricane Ida

Why Johnny Mango! That’s just my game.
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

Re: Hurricane Ida
But these are holy shit rain rates...
Re: Hurricane Ida
This is scary as hell. This winery they show is about 5 miles as the crow flies from where I grew up:
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Number 45 is Paul Konerko with 439.

Sorry about the mangos. Stay safe frogs.

Re: Hurricane Ida
My school bought some time with a delayed opening but I think we’re gonna be closed tomorrow. Damn place was built on a swamp in the 1950’s cause the land was cheap so it floods pretty easily. Don’t think we will be the only one to close, either.
Re: Hurricane Ida
Schools closed tomorrow here right outside of Philly. The main street near where I live is closed from 11th Avenue all the way down to the river, which is about a mile. The river is projected to crest at 2:00 a.m. at 20 feet. I don't really know what that last sentence means, but it doesn't sound good.
How do you all get your death notices since I left?
Re: Hurricane Ida
Oh, and this may be that same Mullica Hill tornado. This is going over the Burlington Bristol Bridge.

Re: Hurricane Ida
We border Newark and the last two hours were insane. Across the street was water up to their front steps, we were halfway, the road was underwater and a friend 4 blocks away had his basement windows go under the water line and give, putting water up to his basement ceiling. Floods are for assholes.
Re: Hurricane Ida
Mannarino better extend this match
Re: Hurricane Ida
I feel bad for the tri-state area, but this is tremendous content
Re: Hurricane Ida
My wife saw footage of flooding in town back home (Vauxhall Home Depot) on FB. Can’t find it on Twitter, if TB wants a challenge.
She’s checked in with our neighbors and our street has been fine so far.

Videos from NYC subway seems to rival what I recall from Sandy.

Re: Hurricane Ida
We’re vey lucky that our house is on the crest of a hill but 10 doors down the houses are starting to flood. Mental note: try not to buy real estate close to any thoroughfare named “Riverside Drive”.
On another matter, the plaster ceiling in my upstairs hallway started getting a water stain so I put in a screw on a string to relive the pressure and it’s starting to drain. Was supposed to get a new roof late last week but roofer had to push it to this Saturday. Cool.

Re: Hurricane Ida
Water started coming in at 7:30. Filled a 5 gallon wet vac over 30 times and countless buckets. Neighbor and his hs son came over to help. 5 of us with vac, towels and mops kept it under control. Finally caught up and dried the rest of the room while i keep vacuuming where it came in. Good news, supposed to stop raining earlier, now 1-2 instead of 3. Not sure when the water will stop coming in.
ETA: fuck, it’s a 9 gallon vac!
