The only thing I can think of is that the 'chel had to make good to Discover for $$ paid, but ads not shown, and Discover was too cheap to shoot a new, non-annoying ad.bapo! wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 7:24 pmCEOs usually don't have on-screen roles, and Lily doesn't strike me as the Lee Iacocca type.
Also, I'm rather appalled that Discover resurrected that commercial with the woman yelling in her office. I can't remember what she yells because I always mute it, but just seeing her brings back awful memories. There were other commercials in that series, and none of them were nearly that grating. Why would they replay this one?

But they have other commercials to pick from. Like any of the half-dozen from that series. And they've probably made more in the two or three years since then. (I'm not sure since I usually mute commercials. I only pay attention if I see an emu or Lily or Flo.)

I think I know who Dr. Rick is, and I've heard good things. I'll unmute my television the next time I see him.
Geico has been consistently great for decades, going back to the caveman days.
Re: Commercials
I find the slim Asian woman in the Discover commercial very attractive, and that isn’t normally my type. Mo money mo money!

From a marketing standpoint, those ads aren’t very effective if they can’t get target customers to remember which company is doing the advertising.tennbengal wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 4:42 pm The latest Geico Dr. Rick turning into your parents commercial set in an airport is several daggers aimed at me directly.

Feel like there’s a real dearth of actual couples in the commercial given its “date night” theme. A lot of that country dude shaking his ass by himself, though.

Ever since their re-design, Ruby Tuesdays established themselves as the #1 option for your partner. Between the more adult mood mood (darker lighting, no kitschy decor, subtler music) and the lack of ridiculous drinks on the menu, it has staked its claim as the top casual chain restaurant for wedding proposals.

I'm just now learning about this commercial, the song it's derived from, and the TikTok craze about it. It sounds like every country song ever and I can't stop laughing about how enraged it makes people.

I'm even getting tired of Lily at this point.
I wonder if the pandemic led to shooting less commercials which led to running the same fucking ones over and over again? I feel like "cash money" had been off the airwaves for a while and then the NHL playoffs brought her back with a vengance.

Re: Commercials
The Lilly commercials have been awful forever now. Frankly, they were never great, but she was cute. Then she got self-conscious about (fair enough) all the attentions she was getting and started directing them herself and they just were bad.

Re: Commercials
I'll just echo a comment upthread: I so rarely watch live TV now, the only commercials I see are the rare occasion that we watch a show "on demand" and I typically use those 90-120 second blocks to go to the bathroom, clean dishes, read my phone. I haven't watched a live football game in... Well, the nexus of when MI football started to tear my heart out most Saturdays and when DVR became a viable thing.

It was made to be featured in a commercial and played until you wanted to jam an icepick in your ears.

Wow, the music is so much worse than how I sang the lyrics in my head. It almost like he is trying to blend hip hop and pop country. And it sticks in your head!!! Those lyrics rival the Kid Rock song Rass posted. Maybe worse, name checking menu items from Applebee’s and Wendy’s.Johnnie wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 8:40 pmRead the lyrics to this garbage-ass song. The Sybian wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 10:04 amThe beauty of not watching live TV, I have no idea what this commercial is.

I’ve seen two pretty Christmas-y commercials this week. One was for Coffee Mate holiday creamers (there appeared to be a pumpkin flavor but the Christmas flavors were shown, too). The other was the Hallmark Channel advertising wines to drink with their Christmas movies. FBC

Am I the only one who thinks the Rob Gronkowski commercials for USAA are sort of tone deaf? It's kinda well-known that it's only for veterans and their families, but Gronk is trying (in the two ads I've seen so far) to get his own policy just based off his fame and wants the rules bent because of that, even though he's obviously not a vet, which just seems weird to me.
