Tough to show red 20 seconds in. Also gotta say, Arriola went down easy. But it should have been red

A red is a red whatever fucking time it is in. That's bullshit to show yellow based on that (which is what they did). The Sybian wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 6:52 pmTough to show red 20 seconds in. Also gotta say, Arriola went down easy. But it should have been red

In theory it should be called the same in the first minute, but a ref doesn’t want to ruin the game 20 seconds in.tennbengal wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 6:56 pmA red is a red whatever fucking time it is in. I’ve even noticed the slightest bit of defensive effort tonight. Against CONCACAF teams, that’s all you need. The Sybian wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 8:02 pmHe is good when he doesn’t have to defend.

Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
Would have been nice to have another goal or two for the goal differential, but if that’s the only complaint then it’s a good night.
Honduras 0:0 Costa Rica would be an excellent result, and so would Mexico 12:0 Canada (sorry!)

Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
Canada 1:1 Mexico at the half in Azteca, and it could easily be 3-1 for the Reds. Davies and Buchanan on the wings causing chaos for Mexico.
Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
Ref just gave a stage 1 warning for (yet another) Azteca homophobic chant. This game was supposed to be the second empty stadium as punishment from the last time, a punishment that somehow got cut in half. Time for actual points to be deducted, what a joke.
Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
Turn on the game to see the very Canadian looking Canadian goalie 1/2 throw a ball and create an event at the top of his box. Then the line scuffle after some sublime defending by the Canadian left back (which also had Canadian Goalie trying to draw a red a few times).travzilla wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 9:57 pm Ref just gave a stage 1 warning for (yet another) Azteca homophobic chant. Yeah after a decent gold cup there was some murmurs that he should be the starting keeper but he has been shaky tonight (Milan Borjan Canada's #1 recovering from covid)wlu_lax6 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 9:59 pmTurn on the game to see the very Canadian looking Canadian goalie 1/2 throw a ball and create an event at the top of his box.travzilla wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 9:57 pm Ref just gave a stage 1 warning for (yet another) Azteca homophobic chant. Canada gets the draw. Canada's first away goal against Mexico at Azteca in 41 years.
One of the biggest results in the history of the program. Finishing below 3rd now would mean a pretty big choke in a few winnable games (very much on the table).

Proud moment for Canadian soccer. I could list about 20 reasons why we would have blown that game in the past, instead just a tremendous amount of heart and guts tonight.

Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
Just the talk of Azteca and Edmonton made me think. Is there an advantage to having that national stadium? I know the US and Canada have been a bit behind in terms of soccer evolution, but now that they're getting nearer the skill level of the world-class clubs, wouldn't it behove them to play in a home stadium?
(Isn't the US supposed to have one? I thought the one in LA maybe?)

Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
Its definitely an advantage to have a national stadium. Canada really plays 80% of their games at BMO. Only the quirky scheduling where Canada has both November games at home gave the coach the idea to put it in Edmonton. And when the US comes to Canada in January that game will be indoors in Vancouver because where else are you going to play in January?

Bad. I was feeling bad. Less so now. And Pulisic and Reyna not here. I can’t believe how deep we are all of a sudden with legit talent.

Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
Jamaica was really bad last night. Looks at some of the easy touches the butchered. They lost nearly every 50-50 ball. They were very thin. I mean we are talking about at team that had someone DC United decided the minimum MLS wage was not worth it on their roster. O'Neill Fisher (who was a favorite of mine before he blew up his ACL).
And US players were good. They moved the ball quickly in good ways and found seams (which Jamaica left way open). While not his hardest game, give Matt Turner some big credit. Less for making his saves he was supposed to but his outlets and the few times playing with his feet under pressure were well done. Will be interesting to see if he does win the #1.

Top of the table is obviously great, especially considering no Pulisic and Reyna. However, Jamaica don't even show up in that graphic, and they didn't have their best players last night. I won't be confident until we've clinched.tennbengal wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 3:06 am Bad. I was feeling bad. Less so now. And Pulisic and Reyna not here. Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
Shoot they can't play anybody in DC except Cuba. Also the dynamics/size of the US it makes very limited sense to play all games in one space. Better economics when you cover the US with games. If not, the rest of Concacaf will host games in the US (i.e. Mexico in Texas).govmentchedda wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 7:07 amWe would never play Mexico in LA.
