Not psyched about losing Krebs and my Tuch jersey is now a throwback, but only losing one first and trading thirds likely in VGK's favor isn't as bad as it could have been for picks going out.

Re: 2021-22 NHL season
Friedman was just on Calgary radio this morning and said he thinks the Sabres asked for Tkachuk and the Flames said no, not the other way around where the Flames were offering him. My guess is we offered Monahan, a prospect and a first and the Sabres liked Krebs alot better than the prospect we offered. If it would have been two firsts instead of one maybe that would have done it.

Seems like a big if, but what do I know?rass wrote: Thu Nov 04, 2021 6:55 am Seems like a great deal for VGK assuming the whole bionic neck thing goes well.
Looks like Brian needs to buy a new Vegas sweater now that Tuch has gone.
(Not really. I’ll be wearing my Marleau Sharks’ sweater tonight.)

The Sharks will retire Marleau's number so you can wear that jersey forever.sancarlos wrote: Thu Nov 04, 2021 11:04 amSeems like a big if, but what do I know?rass wrote: Thu Nov 04, 2021 6:55 am Seems like a great deal for VGK assuming the whole bionic neck thing goes well.

Fun reminder that Alex Tuch is a Trump supporter who dressed as a border patrol agent for Halloween.

What about Eichel? I need to know to evaluate the trade

Trade is definitely a win for Vegas then. We already have a bunch of guys with horrible hair (Stone, Karlsson, Lehner) anyway.

I’m sure many of you are happy VGK are finally playing like an expansion team.

I expect they’ll do like the old Red Wings used to do; coast until March and then turn it on.

They got outshot 20–1 in 1st tonight and went 10 games without a PPG. Of course after I post that they make a fool of me. I have big issues with the Fantasy Hockey mentality of the FO, but they appear to be steadying the ship.

Re: 2021-22 NHL season
Seider's first NHL goal was the OT winner last night, Raymond had three helpers, and Bertuzzi had his second four-point game of the season (two and two). The Wings still aren't good, but at least the young guys are being productive and providing hope.

So a game they win is worse than the game they lost 6-0 on Saturday?

I've known about Seider for a while, but never really paid attention. It's not like other German players haven't grabbed my attention recently: Stutzle, Paterka, Elias. Draisaitl before that. Hell, I even loved Kuhnackl the Younger when he was at Windsor. And now I think I'm finally on board with Seider. He's a good'un.DSafetyGuy wrote: Sun Nov 07, 2021 1:01 pm Seider's first NHL goal was the OT winner last night, Raymond had three helpers, and Bertuzzi had his second four-point game of the season (two and two). Detroit and Ottawa are pretty much the same team now. They're going to lose a lot of games, but man, there's some real talent on those teams. Being a Wings fan should be fun the next few years, as long as you don't expect too much.
Watching Oilers/Bruins. This is Edmonton's first game in Boston in a while, and Colby Cave's wife did the ceremonial puck drop. (Cave played briefly for both teams. I've talked before about watching a gorgeous goal he scored against Pittsburgh, which turned out to be his last NHL goal before he died.) Long hugs with Bergeron and McDavid. Wasn't expecting to feel anything tonight.
Watching the Bruins feed for this one. Going to experience Jack Edwards in all his glory. Bouchard just scored for the good guys. Hello, Swamp puckers.

Pens ran a Hornqvist tribute video. Wasn’t expecting to feel anything tonight.

Aw, man. I (and the Pens) miss that guy.rass wrote: Thu Nov 11, 2021 7:50 pm Pens ran a Hornqvist tribute video. Wasn’t expecting to feel anything tonight.
I've said before that Pens fans are so spoiled. And here I am, skipping a Pens game vs an excellent Panthers team to watch another game, partly because Crosby and Malkin aren't there. I've only watched two or three games this year. I'll read the recaps tomorrow, I guess.
Favorite stat I wrote down a couple of weeks ago: When Thomas Chabot was on the ice, Ottawa out-shot its (can't remember which) opponent 32-12 at 5-on-5. When Chabot was on the bench, Ottawa was out-shot 40-9. (Shot attempts, not shots on goal.)

Caps fan complains about the DoPS not caring about one hockey player throwing another to the ice.
Re: 2021-22 NHL season
guilty....I actually don't have a problem with the decision but if that was Wilson folks would have lost their mind. Instead it was Sid who has a reputation of being dirty (but less bad outcomes than Wilson).mister d wrote: Mon Nov 15, 2021 1:00 pm Caps fan complains about the DoPS not caring about one hockey player throwing another to the ice.
Re: 2021-22 NHL season
Wilson slammed one of the biggest offensive stars in the league to the ice, ending his season, and got nothing.
Re: 2021-22 NHL season
Not defending Wilson today. Not defending Parros and DOPS (although he is a big Movember guy). Just spotlighting a set of incidents on a player who also has a reputation.mister d wrote: Mon Nov 15, 2021 1:31 pm Wilson slammed one of the biggest offensive stars in the league to the ice, ending his season, and got nothing.
The real debate should be does the response to that play differ if an injury happens? Should it matter?
Re: 2021-22 NHL season
No and no, but yes and no if the actors were reversed.
Curious about what, if anything, happens with Subban. Second slewfoot against the Rangers already and this one looks like it caused a serious injury.

Re: 2021-22 NHL season
Serious indeed. Sammy Blais (the guy we got for our point-per-game) wing is out for the season with a torn ACL. Or, if you're familiar with Sammy, a torn Blais-CL.

Vegas is a home underdog today against Carolina for only the 10th time in franchise history and only the second time since 2/20/20. (The most recent time was the game they played with 15 skaters against Colorado late last season which cost the Presidents Trophy. That game is also the only time in franchise history Vegas has lost a game as a home underdog.)

Cracks me up when you say franchise history, but I get it. :D
The fact that the Capitals are still hovering around second place given the amount of injuries they've sustained is quite remarkable. If they can get back Backstrom, Oshie and Dowd...

Re: 2021-22 NHL season
Does this mean the teams that are in the bottom half are playing well without results? Because the Rangers are sitting second at 9-3-3 and have been objectively awful if you look at anything other than goaltending and results.

He did see Larkin moving to the far side of the net just before the puck came free, so I'm just going to dream on it being intentional.govmentchedda wrote: Tue Nov 16, 2021 1:05 pm Seems more like he flubbed a shot, but it's really nice if that's what he meant to do.

Re: 2021-22 NHL season
I'd be interested in knowing how much the hockey game attendee/casual bettor affects the lines for Vegas home games. A couple years ago, John Murray from the Westgate said on a podcast they were getting worked over to some degree on Golden Knights' home games because they'd get a bunch of $50-ish bets from people going to the games and collecting on the way out.brian wrote: Tue Nov 16, 2021 3:47 pm Vegas is a home underdog today against Carolina for only the 10th time in franchise history and only the second time since 2/20/20. This bullshit. The Sharks has seven guys out and the league made them call up AHL guys and play.
