Also, for better or worse, Geep and I will be in Cincy for the game on Saturday. My bad luck and the Bengals bad luck joining forces to...not have bad luck? That's the working theory. What could go wrong...

Hey I will be in Cincy this weekend! But just to drop off a kid at the airport. Maybe Ikea. Airport better option for getting to boston though.tennbengal wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 2:53 pm Also, for better or worse, Geep and I will be in Cincy for the game on Saturday. Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

It is indeed. Especially with a winter storm later this weekend up that way.A_B wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 2:54 pmHey I will be in Cincy this weekend! But just to drop off a kid at the airport. Just on principle, I could never bet on the Raiders against my team.GoodKarma wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 3:02 pmI hedged and put money on the Raiders ML...either my team is winning or I'm making money.tennbengal wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 2:53 pm Also, for better or worse, Geep and I will be in Cincy for the game on Saturday. It's not hard when they max out at 15 viewers on the YouTube stream (that's the most I have seen). I've been watching the Wednesday and Thursday ones the last couple weeks instead of listening to them as a podcast after the fact.

I'm sure tickets would be $300 in Gilette stadium in this weather

So which matchup is most likely to see the home team losing on Wild card weekend?

I think if you're a Bills fan or a non-Pats fan and have any awareness of the last decade or three there is a form of PTSD that prevents you from feeling fully comfortable about the Bills in this game.

Yeah but it's been a while since Belichick had to design a bad weather game plan agains the Bills.

Re: NFL Playoffs 2022 (following 2021 Season) and what not
Barmore and Dugger a big deal. Wynn less so but still your starting LT. Pats will stay committed to the run like last time and I think they'll pull it off. Just a matter of whether they can get to 4th quarter and then get a couple stops or turnover in the pass game. Feels like a 19-16 loss but if they're that close they've got more than a punchers chance. Buffalo does not seem fired up for this.
Re: NFL Playoffs 2022 (following 2021 Season) and what not
I could see a situation that the Raiders play loose on offense and overwhelm Burrow with their pass rush, but McCarthy screwing it up somehow seems the most likely.

What if the Bengals coach gets Covid and they bring Marvin Lewis back for the game?
Re: NFL Playoffs 2022 (following 2021 Season) and what not
Yes, this is mostly where I am at. Obviously I would love for the Steelers to beat the Chiefs, just because it would be funny (it won't happen though).
Re: NFL Playoffs 2022 (following 2021 Season) and what not
Depends who's coaching the Pats. But probably 7 or so.
I think McDermott is one of the top 5 coaches in the league.
You know, if it were any other team coming into Buffalo on a mediocre run like the Pats, Bills fans would be relaxed. Still think they'll win and cover, but being a Bills fan gives you the feeling that the next tragedy is right around the corner.

Re: NFL Playoffs 2022 (following 2021 Season) and what not
I think somebody else already noted this, but it’s an odd thing that the Buffalo team appears built to play at their competitive optimum in a dome, or at least, in sunshine.

It's a good point, hard to wind in cold, windy conditions when you have no running game. Allen has a cannon arm and can throw through the wind better than most, but you need to build a team around your conditions.

There's a lot of evidence coming out that he isn't better than most at this. The Sybian wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 3:16 pmIt's a good point, hard to wind in cold, windy conditions when you have no running game. Re: NFL Playoffs 2022 (following 2021 Season) and what not
His running seems to be such a big weapon in bad weather games, and the Patriots have had some bad games containing the edge. I'm not sure what to expect. The Bills took away Hunter Henry last time and that really seemed to screw up Mac Jones, so it will be interesting to see how he adjusts.A_B wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 3:28 pmThere's a lot of evidence coming out that he isn't better than most at this. The Sybian wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 3:16 pmIt's a good point, hard to wind in cold, windy conditions when you have no running game. They're going to dare Jones to beat them. And with his average at best receivers, it's going to be tough.

Re: NFL Playoffs 2022 (following 2021 Season) and what not
Tennessee has no offense
KC has no defense
Buffalo
I actually like Cincy quite a bit but they are erratic
LV lost to the Giants, they don't belong here
New England has been figured out a bit
I guess that leaves the Steelers as the clear pick to advance to LVI. A beautiful send off for Ben.

This film study piece by Derrik Klassen at Football Outsiders from the last time the Bills and Pats played was really good and probably will help inform some things about Buffalo's defensive strategy for tonight's game. It gets a little deep in vernacular at times, but the generalities are clear if you want to read just the portion before the film clips.

Re: NFL Playoffs 2022 (following 2021 Season) and what not
This kind of ignores that the Pats deep threat didn't play last game. Not that agholor is that great but he does threaten the deep third and open space for intermediate routes. If they hit Henry a couple times harder to commit to the underneath stuff. Also I'm not sure that Bolden is so dangerous in the pass game that you have to worry about him out the backfield. Jones definitely likes that safety blanket check down but if bills are committing guys to stop that it's a win for pats. Pats wideouts are fine just don't fit Jones strengths right now. Bourne and Meyers both route runners that don't win immediately. They could use a mismatch slot receiver and a shifty dangerous guy out the backfield. The joy of this team is that they'll match to his strengths a bit in the off season and more development and experience will let Jones hide weaknesses better and at least threaten down field more. Even Brady struggled deep at times over the past ten years much less as a rookie. An off-season to trust what he sees down field and build timing will help a lot. Still goal is to bludgeon them and find a pick in the fourth. Just wonder if they can get there. Barmore man. Mills. Wynn. Cogs really.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 9:29 amThis film study piece by Derrik Klassen at Football Outsiders from the last time the Bills and Pats played was really good and probably will help inform some things about Buffalo's defensive strategy for tonight's game. Rass, I admire your embrace of the heel role. It seems the football world is divided between pro-Steeler people and anti-Ben people.

Really looking forward to the Raiders @ Bengals game tonight. The Raiders' front 7 trying to impose themselves on the Bengals' OL and seeing how the Bengals' underrated D does against the Raiders.

Me too. They’re fun as hell.
Would it’ve been too early for Vegas to take an intentional safety right then on that punt?
