I think I've seen four UNC passes that weren't just stolen, they were intercepted, as in "the safety was just waiting there for the pass, I have no idea what the hell he was thinking...Anyway, here's a Turkducken..."

At least the Duke coaches shook hands this time.

Re: 2021/22 NCAA Basketball
Great game. Lived up to the billing without a doubt.
Won all the money I lost on Nova and then some. Thanks UNC.
Going to push it all on Carolina on Monday night.

Re: 2021/22 NCAA Basketball
I’m not a good gambler, but my sense is that Carolina is now emotionally spent, and Kansas might smoke them Monday.

Possibly. Though line has moved down, meaning money is coming in on UNC. We’ll see. I’m leaning towards them having one more run in them. At least I hope so.

That was a game featuring two teams of great skill and talent where both teams had to overcome their own poor basketball IQ. Lots of bad passes and poor decisions/shots.EnochRoot wrote: Sat Apr 02, 2022 9:26 pm I think I've seen four UNC passes that weren't just stolen, they were intercepted, as in "the safety was just waiting there for the pass, I have no idea what the hell he was thinking...Anyway, here's a Turkducken..."
I am guessing Hubert Davis is at least #3 on the list of all-time greatest UNC coaches after the last month.

Re: 2021/22 NCAA Basketball
Maybe if it was a quarterfinal to a semifinal or earlier. But they should be up for the Championship Game. And Kansas isn't a small school to come down to.

Checking in late to say I really enjoyed that second game last night. Damn Nantz was right it did live up to the hype.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

Not sure if anyone is watching the Women’s final, but it’s about to head onto the 4th and this got very interesting.

Re: 2021/22 NCAA Basketball
I'm watching. I think UConn made their run in the 3rd, maybe they have one more in them, but now that it's back in double digits, SC is gonna hold them off.L-Jam3 wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 8:44 pm Not sure if anyone is watching the Women’s final, but it’s about to head onto the 4th and this got very interesting.

Re: 2021/22 NCAA Basketball
McGuire is obviously before my time, but he was a hell of a coach. Final Four at St. Johns. Undefeated national title at UNC. Then built South Carolina into a power before they stupidly left the ACC due to the stringent academic requirements. They've never really recovered as a program and McGuire is still their winningest coach.DSafetyGuy wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 3:51 pmI figure Hubert did enough heavy lifting in the last month to pass Frank McGuire.Shirley wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 12:46 pmThree prior UNC coaches already won championships.DSafetyGuy wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 9:04 amThat was a game featuring two teams of great skill and talent where both teams had to overcome their own poor basketball IQ. Of course, he did get UNC into major trouble with the NCAA which led to them hiring an unknown assistant named Dean Smith.
He also coached briefly in the NBA (was the coach of Philadelphia when Wilt averaged 50 ppg) and took St. Johns to the college baseball world series. Pretty wild career.

Re: 2021/22 NCAA Basketball
As I understand it, the ACC had an SAT (800) requirement for scholarship athletes that even the NCAA didn’t have. South Carolina (and oftentimes Clemson, Virginia and Maryland) would get pissed off at the Tobacco Road voting bloc for alienating the schools outside the state of NC. USC left in the early 70s to be an independent, but only moved to the Metro Conference once it became obvious the basketball program was being overlooked by the NCAA tourney. Clemson dared to leave with USC but chickened out. Maryland, 40 years later left for the Big 10. I think USC lobbied to get back into the ACC during the initial massive realignment in the early 90s, but the ACC was focused exclusively on FSU. So they joined the SEC.Shirley wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 11:16 pmMcGuire is obviously before my time, but he was a hell of a coach. Final Four at St. Johns. Undefeated national title at UNC. Yeah, SC left the ACC just when they were becoming a very strong program. They have never recovered. Possibly the biggest conference membership decision mistake in NCAA history.

Not from a women's sport or money standpoint but they've been also-rans in football and basketball for a while. And this is coming from someone whose team was sub also ran for a long time. Spurrier retired when he realized he couldn't beat Kentucky every year anymore!

Carolina's size should keep this one close, but this inside/outside stuff from Kansas. Teams aren't built to stop that anymore.

I stopped for a haircut on the way home from work, got home, ate something, got both kids going with their homework, played an hour of GeoGuessr, had dinner, downloaded two whole-ass PS4 games, went to present at a planning board meeting 30 minutes away, sat through an hour of building permit arguments, presented, drove home, showered…
…and the game just started. Good thing college basketball is also figuratively unwatchable.

Re: 2021/22 NCAA Basketball
Huh. Just looked it up. The NCAA implemented it a decade ago. So it makes the game safer to discourage players from drawing a charge? OK, I guess.

So it's a thing now for players who aren't accustomed to minutes to throw up on the court? Is this JV ball, or are we in the Mens National Championship?

Re: 2021/22 NCAA Basketball
LOL at stepping out of bounds.
Almost as bad as Hubert Davis not calling a timeout to setup that play with :06 on the shot clock, you know, so a gimpy Bacot doesn't wind up with the ball 20+ feet from the basket.

And hasn't Bill Self and Kansas been under NCAA investigation for the last 3 years?
