Hutchinson's testimony was powerful and people will come forward to confirm it, I can't see a world where Garland doesn't drop charges on him.

"She's lying."
Uh huh. Okay. For Why?
There is literally nothing in this for her. She is probably going to be ruined and unlikely to be able to get a job at a Burger King in a red state after this.
She is doing this because its the right thing to do. She has a lot to lose and almost nothing to gain.

I've been very busy today and just now got to listen to 10-15 minutes.
Holy shit.
This is incredible. Agree with degen on the point that Garland is going to indict. Don't agree she is ruined, by any stretch. She's going to have folks knocking at her door (probably already does), particularly from lobbyists that know that there's an end game to the MAGA stuff, at least in DC circles.
Not trying to hard to pull the "industry insider" ticket here, but this town has a LOT of angles. She is savvy enough to find them.

I feel like a the tide has turned after Hutchinson's testimony. I haven't watched the full day yet, but responses from Conservative outlets makes it seem like they are starting to distance themselves from Trump. Clips I've seen from FoxNews are all feigned outrage, they are "shocked!" at Trump's behavior. They had no idea how out of control he was. How he seems to have encouraged the insurrectionists! Sure, they televised it live as he stood on a microphone and commanded them to go to the Capital and prevent the delegate count, but who knew!!!degenerasian wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 12:07 pm

Mick Mulvaney making the media rounds yesterday really pissed me off. Trying to come off as a sober voice of reason, saying he can't believe Meadows sat in "my former couch, next to my old fireplace in my office and let Trump do this." Fuck you, Mick! If you were in that office, you would have been the toadie you always were and helped Trump scheme, connive and commit fraud. He also said something to the effect of "I had no idea Trump was capable of this." Fuck you, you knew damned well. You also know about countless other lies and frauds, and you said nothing. And you wouldn't have said anything now, except you saw the tides turn and you want to rehabilitate your reputation. Fuck you. And fuck all of the former administration people condemning past acts today, while they let them happen at the time and never came forward. Especially Bill Barr. If you had an ounce of integrity, you wouldn't have let Trump carry on telling the Big Lie for 2 years until your book came out and you could profit of telling the truth.

Re: To the extent it comes up: Trump crap post-WH years
Holding a 20-something low level staffer responsible for not speaking out is like blaming a 5 yo for not calling to police on her parents for committing a crime. She wasn't in a position to influence any decisions, and if she did speak out, who would have listened or acted? She would have sabotaged her career and put her life into danger. Plus, I can't imagine a low level staffer could have understood the significance at the time it was happening. And when you are in a position like that, you assume there is a bigger picture strategy going on that you don't fully understand. And yes, she is a Republican. People that take these jobs have aspirations of bigger political roles in the Party. She probably held these morons in high regard, so she likely believed they knew what they were doing. I wonder if she still considers herself a Republican and supports the party. I still can't believe that Arizona Commissioner who talked about how horrible it was when Trump tried to bully him into pissing on the Constitution, which he holds as a parchment written by God, yet he would still vote for Trump in 2024. FFS, how do these people still follow this conman? This guy, more than anyone understands the true horror that a President tried to subvert democracy, he stood firm on his principles, and would still vote Trump!degenerasian wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 12:55 pmThe other comments I hear are, "Well, Hutchinson knew, if she knew all this, she should have done something. Re: To the extent it comes up: Trump crap post-WH years
Forgot to mention, I heard some interesting commentary about Cassidy Hutchinson from Alyssa Farah, the former Trump Communications Director who quit after 1/6 and blasts Trump and his enablers all the time. She said she is friends with Hutchinson and gave some insight. Apparently when Hutchinson first spoke to the Committee (the taped interviews played earlier in the Hearing), she was represented by attorneys provided by either the White House or Trump's team. She spoke with Farah afterwards and said she had more she wanted to tell the Committee, but felt she couldn't say it in front of her attorneys, so she hired her own attorney and asked to return. That is why they had her as a bonus day. I think she brought the new info really late and it was too good not to get her talking again immediately. She also said Hutchinson told her some of the new info she didn't realize the importance of it until she heard others' testimony and connected the dots to her previously untold testimony. Farah thinks more insiders will start to come forward, either realizing they have key info or feeling pressure. I've heard a couple legal pundits saying the Committee is intentionally signaling to people with critical info that the Committee knows their secrets and they better come forward to the Committee, as they will be in legal trouble if the info comes out without their volunteering the testimony. Maybe wishful thinking, but the Committee has been masterful and now it's in Garland's hand to shit the bed or actually do something.

Ethically, a lawyer represents his/her client regardless of who pays the bill, but we've seen the lawyers Trump hires, so we can make an educated guess on their adherence to ethics.

And what do you know...looks like Trump's SUV meltdown was an open secret in the Secret Service...EnochRoot wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 3:13 pmIt’s basically the only hearsay she shared in her sworn statement.DaveInSeattle wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 3:09 pmI'll bet money that no Secret Service agents will provide sworn testimony.Johnnie wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 3:00 pm But the real question: Will she remain a Republican after the USSS testifies against her and she deals with death threats?
Also...the whole thing about the 'trying to grab the steering wheel' is a distraction. Notice that no one is disputing anything else she has said.

Just wanted to underscore the point made last week: Whether Trump attempted to grab the wheel, put his hands on an agent, etc etc is completely beside the point and a total distraction.* The Big Lie angle put to rest with her testimony are all of Trump's supporters trying to claim he never really intended to go up and join the insurrectionists. Fucking bullshit, we all knew, but this completely shoves it up the MAGA/Fox idiot's asses.
* - As the Pod Save guys railed on last week, the MSM was helping mightily with this distraction and they should be ashamed of themselves. Terrible fucking forest for the trees bullshit "reporting."

Both James Comey and Andrew McCabe were "randomly" selected to have intensive audits done under the National Research program of the IRS.
NY Times article wrote:Former I.R.S. officials and tax lawyers said that given the array of reforms imposed on the agency after the Watergate scandal, they believed it would be difficult for a president or an appointee to direct an audit at a political opponent.
But the officials and lawyers said that because Mr. Trump repeatedly tried to use the powers of the federal government against his rivals and to overturn the election, and because the I.R.S. conducted an extensive audit on two people whom he routinely pushed to have prosecuted, the tax inspector general or Congress should investigate the circumstances.
How do you all get your death notices since I left?
