Re: Election Day 2022
I have to say I am shocked at how tonight is turning out. I will gladly eat a ton of crow regarding my earlier post about Boebert being a lock for our district. Still too early to declare victory but in a district that is R+8 it’s amazing.
I would like expensive whiskey.

So Maryland just overwhelmingly voted to legalize recreational usage of cannabis.
I guess I should learn to smoke weed again.

I can't decide if this is what will make Trump think he can save the day and make things even worse for Republicans or that someone will finally put him out of his political misery and let him be convicted to avoid the anchor. I don't think this was a good night for Trump world.

Re: Election Day 2022
yeah, it seems the polling industry is facing a reckoning that is more process-driven than results-driven given how our phone habits have changed over the past 20 years. and I'm not totally sure there's an obvious answer on how to fix it.

We talked about the polling. It's just not a very reliable resource anymore... Who answers robocalls anymore? Seriously. It's not super complicated.

Didn’t Trump back away from Vance a few weeks ago? Didn’t follow that race too closely.A_B wrote: Wed Nov 09, 2022 8:29 am I can't decide if this is what will make Trump think he can save the day and make things even worse for Republicans or that someone will finally put him out of his political misery and let him be convicted to avoid the anchor. Vance didn't really want the endorsement to start with I don't think, so I'm sure he had no issues ignoring him when he didn't need anything. The Sybian wrote: Wed Nov 09, 2022 9:01 amDidn’t Trump back away from Vance a few weeks ago? Re: Election Day 2022
Another thing...Mitch McConnell is shitting his pants that Trump announces a run next week prior to a potential Georgia runoff. With no kemp on the ticket and the spectre looming, that would not be ideal I imagine.

Boebert down 1.2% with 90% counted, but NYT says leaning Boebert. Damn would I love to see her lose and slide into irrelevance

I procrastinated and only mailed in my ballot yesterday (which means my vote should be counted) and wooooo I'm glad I did. Those NV races are gonna be close.

Considering how ridiculously Michigan is gerrymandered this is a stunning result.

Piece of shit deserved to lose. This will probably be looked at as what puts the GOP over the hump for house control.

Re: Election Day 2022
While Kentucky democrats didn't make much noise on races, it was pretty heartening to see the Abortion amendment fail. Now, don't get me wrong, this didn't codify it as a right, it just said it can't be codified to outlaw. So it isn't as far as some states went, but still, between this and Bevin losing a couple of years ago it does show at least some critical thinking. And the eastern part of the state where I grew up made a little bit of a shift leftward. Not much, but not nothing.
But yes, the youngins understood the assignment. My son was very proud to have voted, which is also heartening to me that a member of LGBT had something to feel good about and not get disenfranchised immediately. WE had discussed how it was unlikely that any politicians would make a surprise victory, so this was nearly a best case scenario. Now we see if Beshear can get reeelcted.

Next redistricting isn't until after 2030 census, so they can't.

Re: Election Day 2022
Nope. Got her GED. Which, I won't shame someone for, and I don't know the exact circumstances for her, but sometimes shit happens. I know my uncle was tickled when he finally got his GED in his 30s. Of course, getting one right before election season means she probably didn't think it was that important until someone told her it mattered.Pruitt3 wrote: Wed Nov 09, 2022 11:22 amDown 2% with 93% counted. The Sybian wrote: Wed Nov 09, 2022 9:09 am Boebert down 1.2% with 90% counted, but NYT says leaning Boebert. But she also didn't much to make anyone think she was "smart", for sure.

Checked back with the NYTimes, they haven't updated since 7:30 EST. I dug deeper, and it looks like the majority of uncounted votes are from counties favoring Frisch, so I don't know why they are leaning Boebert, unless mail-in was counted first or something.
