Re: Television (no longer temporary)
Is anyone else watching Interview With the Vampire on AMC? It took the bare bones of the Anne Rice story, and made some pretty interesting changes, and all of them work. First they have Louis as now a black, gay society man who runs a series of brothels in 1910's New Orleans, specifically Storyville. The interviewer first interviewed him in the early 1970s, and is now meeting him up again to correct the record. And Claudia is now 14 years old, on the brink of puberty, which changes from the 5 year old in the books and a 10 year old in the movie. I think this version is better than both. Gothic, queer, and darkly comic. A pleasant surprise.

Really enjoying the new Mighty Ducks show on Disney+. 3 episodes in. I was aware of the Flying V and whatnot, but I really don't think I ever saw any of the movies all the way through. The show is charming as hell, and completely sold me when they ended episode 3 with "Runaway Wind" by Paul Westerberg. Really brought back a lot of memories of how much I loved the last Replacements record and the first two Paul Westerberg solo records. Loved that they choose Minneapolis based music for a Minneapolis based show.
Until everything is less insane, I'm mixing weed with wine.

That’s cool. I’m also a fan of the Replacements and Westerberg.govmentchedda wrote: Mon Nov 07, 2022 8:27 pm Really enjoying the new Mighty Ducks show on Disney+. 3 episodes in. I got into them in HS when my girlfriend's older brother played the hell out of All Shook Down. It's way up there on my list of favorite albums, even if I hadn't thought about it in a decade.sancarlos wrote: Mon Nov 07, 2022 8:51 pmThat’s cool. Caught up. Andor really was fucking fantastic.
Re: Television (no longer temporary)
First episode of the new "White Lotus" was so much fun
Re: Television (no longer temporary)
So did the first 2 episodes (I think of 3) for Good Rivals. This is the Amazon Prime documentary on the USA-Mexico soccer rivalry. Marquez interviews were solid. They did leave out the only reason the US qualified for the 90 world cup was Mexico was banned for using overage players. A bit too Landon-centric, but not surprised by a Grant Wahl production. I did like seeing that Frankie H and Balboa's hairstyle has stayed the same. Would have liked a few more player interviews..the fact that Campos and Blanco do not make the interview list is a shame. Especially because of their impact in the early MLS years.

That's the first documentary released by Meadowlark Media, Dan LeBatard's company.

This show is very good by the way. And the Mexican tears about having to play in the cold in Columbus in 2001 are still so delicious.wlu_lax6 wrote: Sat Nov 26, 2022 12:17 pm So did the first 2 episodes (I think of 3) for Good Rivals. We're one episode behind... It is REALLY entertaining. So cool that Plaza is seizing the moment.

I'm not suggesting she could be Mrs. Delaware like as a replacement, but she could be Mrs. Delaware.Nonlinear FC wrote: Tue Nov 29, 2022 8:59 amWe're one episode behind... It is REALLY entertaining. So cool that Plaza is seizing the moment.

The casting of the women on that show is incredible. The way a couple of them are subtly transformed in appearance and demeanor is pretty awesome.

Season 2 is great. Different from season 1 in many ways, but still great.

Most recent episode (#5) of The White Lotus was just a masterclass in television. Writing, acting, directing, all impeccable. Hard to believe White has improved on season one, but he's pulled it off. All of the main characters are so well-written. Actually fully fleshed out people instead of stereotypes.

What's beautiful about it, just like the Knives Out/Glass Onion "franchise" is that they've built something that can be replicated many times over going forward.

I’m not watching with her but never has a show made my wife cry the way does when watching From Scratch.

This was an excellent review of why Andor was so good. Finally saw last two eps, and man was it good.

The game was amazing.
One milkshake to bring all the boys to the yard and in the darkness bind them.

I thought there was a lull in this season in episodes 2-3, but it is heading into the finale on such a high.

My wife and I watched this up until the penultimate episode. That was about a month ago. We are going to finish it, but it is absolutely brutal.rass wrote: Sat Dec 03, 2022 9:41 am I’m not watching with her but never has a show made my wife cry the way does when watching From Scratch.

Ethan sucks shit.

Re: Television (no longer temporary)
If anything Ethan and Harper's relationship is a weak point in the show because it's not believable that they've grown apart because it's tough to believe they stayed together long enough to get married in the first place.

Having watched them back-to-back, season one is vastly superior to the second. But still an awesome season.

Absolutely loved this season. I'd disagree with Giff, thought this season was at least on par, but that's really a quibble.
Also, finally hit me what the opening theme music is based on. Despacito. Was driving me nuts. Go back and listen and you'll pick it up (If you hadn't already.)
