Re: Board Maintenance
If you guys don't mind, I'd rather just do the general call out next year and solicit donations widely. I'll bump the old thread at that time.

The URL is different.
index.php doesn't work.
It's http://sportsfrog.net/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=2 now.

I’m in! It took going to the grocery store and using their wifi, but I’m in. I’m still not convinced things are configured correctly, but I’m glad it’s working for some at least.
Totally Kafkaesque

Power cycling your modem re-establishes a connection with your ISP in order to clear its cache. Could be what's going on?

sportsfrog.net should resolve now. It wasn't working on my work PC before and is now. (It's been working on my phone since last night).

I'm in from home now too! I think Oiler made one more adjustment to our DNS settings and that did the trick.

Re: Board Maintenance
See, what happened was ...
A Small Orange (our hosting provider) moved some servers around the other day. They did send a notice a week or two back that this was going to happen. But there was no date given and they didn't tell us what IPs we'd get. Honestly, I just assumed we'd move the new IPs, no problem.
When they made the move, we went down because now "sportsfrog.net" resolved to the wrong, old, IP address. It wasn't clear to me at all what had happened. I spent forever in a support chat with ASO to find out what happened. That's also when I learned that our domain name is managed by yet another company. I have no account with that company and it was configured to be private, so I couldn't even tell who created it.
I did reach out to support at directnic (who manages the domain) and convinced them to email the mystery person on my behalf to ask for help. I'm not sure if that's what got Oiler's attention. He's the one who registered sportsfrog.net way back when Scottie first nuked the sportsfrog.com site.
BTW, A full day later, A Small Orange sent us an email helpfully informing us that our IP had changed and gave us the new IP(s). Thanks!
Oiler eventually emailed me and we've been going back and forth the last two days trying to get the various settings right. I think we have it now.
After the holidays, I'm going to try to move the domain control to ASO so it's all in one place for next time.

Working from both the computer and phone now. Sorry if I've been cracking wise with Oiler about Alf, the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, L.A. Confidential, and Teslas in our group text. He probably could've fixed this shit much faster without me bothering him all morning.

He did text me the other day and asked if I was still active in the Swamp. Must've been what got directnic to reach out to him.Shirley wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 4:07 pm See, what happened was ...

Thanks, everyone! I hate being on the phone for things that directly affect me so for something like this you're doing more than I would want to do as a default and it's not unnoticed.

Yeah, thanks guys. I get a sinking feeling of "will it be gone forever this time?" when something like this happens and am glad you got it back intact.

I don’t understand any of this tech gibberish, but I really appreciate Shirley stepping up and taking care of this.
