That's awesome. I say we chalk it up to leftover karma from the divorce paying itself out now.

Huzzah!
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

somehow... our payment went down 80/month. he tore our old policy, added the kid, made some small changes in terms of deductible.. kept collision on the car the boy will drive (so not just liability)..The Sybian wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 4:52 pmGood point, I'm not letting the kid get his license for a couple years. did just call the insurance co (allstate for 20+years) kid remains uninsured until the weekend .. guy is workng all angles to minimize the hit on the monthly nut.
we were budgeting +$200 extra a month.. so basically have a 280 win back. not telling the boy that though.

Lucky you. When the oldest daughter went on our insurance our bill doubled. One week later and she hits a parked car. Add another 100-150.elflaco2 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 11:54 amsomehow... our payment went down 80/month. he tore our old policy, added the kid, made some small changes in terms of deductible.. kept collision on the car the boy will drive (so not just liability)..The Sybian wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 4:52 pmGood point, I'm not letting the kid get his license for a couple years. Yo momma's so slow, she got hit by a parked car.

Re: Proud Parental Unit Crowing Thread
Thanks everyone! It's a pretty great feeling seeing them both thriving like that. The oldest has a job all lined up, and is going to be going to Israel for a couple of months post graduation.
And the younger one...she's a bio major (doing 1st class of O-Chem this semester) and is seriously talking about med school. She's only a freshman so that may change, but she is definitely digging in on school, which is great to see. She was so OVER high school.
Re: Proud Parental Unit Crowing Thread
Picked the oldest up at work (because see above) and she told me she was waiting for a call from a track coach at some college called “La-sully”.

Re: Proud Parental Unit Crowing Thread
Not something I ever thought I would ever write, but I dropped the youngest and mom off at the hospital this morning for top surgery (well, it's not a 2-for-1, I just structure sentences poorly).
Between mental and actual health problems, I think this is a big day for him. It's difficult because we mostly have kept it under wraps around here because it has a tendency to confuse some, but once it's done it will be an easier conversation to have, plus it's not really my story to tell. So I get by with "outpatient surgery" but it means so much more than that.
Insurance has been mostly good after the first round of denials, which the transition team said was likely to happen. But my wife works in billing and knew all the right forms to get and whom to talk to, so it's been on the books for about 8 weeks. Kid is naturally excited and nervous. Mom is doing well overall (and 100% on the parts that matter...but it's still surgery) and I've done better than expected.
BUT...there's basically no cell service at the hospital surgery areas so I am just in a holding pattern waiting to hear. Should be done by mid afternoon after recovery. Wild this is an outpatient surgery. Medicine is pretty cool.
Anyway, sitting in a quiet office I took the first chance to reflect, as I've been too busy trying to help the others hold it together, which is really my main job today. Everything will be fine, I'm sure, but hug the offspring and SO for an extra second or two today.

Wife finally got to a spot with cell service when they wheeled him back. Everything good so far, surgery scheduled until 11 or so. Thanks for listening, guys!

Hope it all goes well, keep us posted. So great to see supportive parents, it breaks my heart thinking about all the kids who don't have parents who are as understanding and supportive.

Out of surgery. Wife hasn't gotten to go back into recovery yet but apparently all went well when she talked to the surgeon. Thanks for the comments and thoughts guys!

Nothing left to say that wasn't already mentioned by the first 20 posters, but I'm glad to hear everything is going well and I hope it continues on that path, if not better.

This. It’s gotta be harrowing to go through a physical rebirth but you and Mrs. B have made it just a little less so due to your unconditional love and support. Here’s to a rapid recovery!
Re: Proud Parental Unit Crowing Thread
Yeah, I echo what everyone already said, AB. Huge congratulations to you, your wife, and your son. It sounds like you're all handling this fantastically. Good on all of you.
