Thanks for best wishes everyone. It's a strange feeling...my sister and I weren't ever particularly close, and hadn't really spent any time together in years. But there is a sadness about it. She had been in really rough shape, especially over the last few months, and she was ready for it to be over. As my mom put it, it's a "sad blessing".

I was going to post this last week, but I let's DiS's sister get much deserved memorial from the Swamp

Jerry Richardson, NFL champion with the 1959 Baltimore Colts, brought pro football to Carolina and owned the Panthers from 1995 to 2018 when he was forced out after many workplace misconduct allegations and settlements, was 86.

Probably not too many Jews of my generation who didn't see "Fiddler On The Roof" numerous times.

Saw the play with my Grandmother, the movie a couple of times with my Bubbie and again with my mother.

Later with my wife.

The songs are engraved in my mind. And I still can't forgive little Chavela for running off with that Aryan boy. That was a bit much for poor Tevye.

His last role was in David Lynch’s “Lost Highway” and it’s appropriately creepy given his trajectory after that.

My sister's Memorial was yesterday...and this sounds really weird to say, but my father crushed the gravesite dedication prayer. As we walked up, the mortician offered the microphone to him, and he said "Everyone will be able to hear me"...and they did.

He admitted to me later that he didn't think he would be able to get through it, but he did an amazing job.

Dick Fosbury..creator of the Fosbury Flop. Few people transform a sport.
Fosbury cleared 2.24 meters (7 feet, 4 1/4 inches) in Mexico City to win the gold and set an Olympic record. By the next Olympics, 28 of the 40 jumpers were using Fosbury's technique. Today, it is by far the most-used technique for elite high jumpers across the globe.

In terms of technique - kind of like Pete Gogolak (the first soccer-style NFL kicker). So successful that soon the straight ahead kickers were dinosaurs.

We've lost a lot of athletes/coaches over the last week. Here's a catch-up:

Jesus Alou, 80. One-third of the famous Alou outfield.

Bud Grant, 95. Hall of Fame coach known for his time leading the Purple People Eaters defense.

Felton Spencer, 55. Former Louisville standout and No. 6 overall pick by the T'Wolves.

Joe Pepitone, 82. Three-time Gold Glove winner and two-time WS winner with the Yankees.

He probably deserves his own thread, but I got a text about eight hours ago that Willis Reed died and nobody has posted it yet so I'm just gonna drop it here.
