It may not be 100 percent right but basically they’ve given themselves a ddos attack trying to fix it. And it is related to trying to make it to wheee you have to be logged in to view and that broke it.

Re: Twitter:The New Batch
They haven't paid Google for the capability to still function.
I tried to find the tweet with matching article clip, but, you know.

So basically if you're not someone who paid for the blue check, you can only see 800 tweets a day for now. Blue checks can see 8,000.

I don't understand how Tweetdeck continues to function as it always has. It seems impervious to all of the meltdowns.
When Tweetdeck goes, I'll probably just say goodbye to that slice of social media. And maybe go read a book or something.

Like, just turn the site off, right? What's the point of this foolishness otherwise.

It looks like I whispered the end of Tweetdeck functionality into existence.
Re: Twitter:The New Batch
Has anyone tried Threads yet? Elon seems hot and bothered by it.
Re: Twitter:The New Batch
I tried it. So I’m automatically following everybody I follow on Instagram. I don’t like the fact that I can’t obscure my name. On Insta I’m bland. But on twitter my name is obscured so I get more overtly political.

Exactly why I won’t use it. I try very hard to keep my Twitter secret to a lot of people.sancarlos wrote: Fri Jul 07, 2023 10:58 pm I tried it. Re: Twitter:The New Batch
The culture of sexual harassment throughout the Mavs' organization tends to slip the mind (original report and investigation in 2018, another lawsuit from their former GM in 2022 which cited specific events in 2020). I mean, just seven or eight days ago, we roasted Pat Fitzgerald for at the very least not knowing about the hazing and racism that riddled the football program he used to lead. Cuban's been there the whole time.sancarlos wrote: Sat Jul 15, 2023 6:00 pmI’m not a fan of Cuban, but imho, he’s nowhere near as unlikeable as Elon.DSafetyGuy wrote: Sat Jul 15, 2023 5:01 pm Mark Cuban trolling Elon is worst person in the world makes good point.jpg.
ETA: To clarify, it's likely for the best to just assume the worst about the people on top of the pile and work backward from there.

Please do.
But, "never meet your heroes" is drifting close enough to read the sign that says "maybe don't have heroes".

Re: Twitter:The New Batch
Can someone explain to me that out of the nigh-limitless forms of entertainment in America a person would actively choose to watch/listen to Ben Shapiro? I truly don’t get it.

I mean more like why him? There's 44 seasons of Survivor out there. 11 years of Cheers. Murder She Wrote. Dallas. Perry Mason. Mayberry RFD. The Beverly Hillbillies. Person of Interest. 24. Multiple channels devoted to showing sports. Thousands of movies out there for the watching. 70 years of rock music. 100 years of country. Video games are basically playable from the NES/Sega forward, which was about 35 years ago. Beer. Wine. Liquor. Hamburgers. Pizza. And centuries worth of video of porn. All available at the touch of a button.
But people choose to listen to this angry chipmunk. I just don't get it.

You mean you aren't going to go watch Shapiro "destroy" the Barbie movie for 43 minutes?L-Jam3 wrote: Sun Jul 23, 2023 10:12 am Can someone explain to me that out of the nigh-limitless forms of entertainment in America a person would actively choose to watch/listen to Ben Shapiro? His goal is to destroy Twitter, right?
It was a primary place for millions to visit for news and analysis and that's going away.

I can’t imagine old people listening/watching Shapiro. From my very limited experience listening to Shapiro, he says a lot of things that sound intelligent (I believe he has a Harvard Law degree), but is either factually wrong or based on Talmudic bullshit. Heard him rant against homosexuality and pre-marital sex by citing strict interpretations of Judaism. I believe he is Orthodox. He was just so fucking indignant and convinced his holy texts are rock solid facts.Pruitt IV wrote: Sun Jul 23, 2023 4:47 pmHate's a powerful emotion.L-Jam3 wrote: Sun Jul 23, 2023 12:00 pm I mean more like why him? I have a friend who told me to listen to him over 5 years ago. It was during the Colorado bakery case where the baker refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple. Shapiro just completely mangled the law surrounding public accommodations. I could see someone who didn’t know the law and history being persuaded, but he just fucking misunderstood all of it. Plus, he is such a whiny, sniveling, arrogant twerp. I’d find him unlistenable even if he agreed with my politics.

I can't imagine listening to this guy for five minutes, yet alone 43. Like if Jehovah himself patched through the airwaves and tv, and said that he was going to send a report explaining the meaning of life in written form, and he chose Ben Shapiro to deliver it, my reaction would be something along the lines of "eh, I'll just read the transcript the next day".The Sybian wrote: Sun Jul 23, 2023 8:49 pmI can’t imagine old people listening/watching Shapiro.
