Until everything is less insane, I'm mixing weed with wine.
Re: Tech Support
I have a standard HP Elitebook and anytime I am plugged into an HP Thunderbolk dock, the only thing that works is the power. My mouse, monitor, and anything else I have in the dock is not working. Any ideas?

Re: Tech Support
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

Re: Tech Support
I've tried multiple ones in the office and nothing works on any of them except power.

^ This solution is for a Z-Book, but something tells me a similar answer exists for the EliteBook.

Yup it was something similar. Finally got a hold of our site's IT guy and he helped me identify the correct update.

Re: Tech Support
Handy for anyone who can tell me how to access a shared Google Drive folder from the Mac finder. (using a shortcut no longer appears to work)
Re: Tech Support
Yes that’s what I’m using.
Re: Tech Support
Where was the shortcut? Was it in the Finder Sidebar? Like, when you click on Locations in Finder (if it's minimized), do you see Google Drive there?

Re: Tech Support
I'm using GD. I'm very familiar with it. When you're in the web version, there's a sidebar that includes a "Shared With Me" button, which takes you to all the items that others have shared with you. These are not accessible from GD desktop, because there's no "Shared With Me" folder (for whatever reason). So, in the past, the workaround was to log-in to the web version, create a shortcut then place it into "My Drive", then that would appear in your desktop GD and you could move it wherever and get to that "Shared With Me" item whenever. That method no longer works (just noticed my files hadn't been syncing for like a month), and I just get an error message. Thus my question. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Re: Tech Support
Yes, I came across that solution as well but as it's 4 years old it's no longer viable.
Re: Tech Support
I'm finally going to have to ditch Evernote. They've gotten to the point where they limit your total amount of notes to 50 or you have to pay a whopping $130 a year for what was once free. I've been using it since 2009 or so, so it's really fucking annoying, but whatever.
Microsoft OneNote looks ok as a substitute. As do a few others like Joplin or Google Keep.
Anyone have a preference?

Re: Tech Support
Evernote is, for lack of a better term, half-baked. There is still no archive function. That's just stupid. They want your data, but they don't want to share your data with their competitors.Johnnie wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 1:50 am I'm finally going to have to ditch Evernote. Anyway - export the notebooks you no longer use (one at a time) down to your computer or NAS.

Re: Tech Support
I’ve been using OneNote for several years now…no real complaints. If you’re using other Microsoft stuff it integrates nicely.

I've bought a webcam to use with my work laptop...and it works great in Zoom, but it won't work in Teams. Any ideas?
Re: Tech Support
That's weird. Is this a Mac? Is it possible that you haven't granted Teams the rights to access the camera?DaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 10:23 am I've bought a webcam to use with my work laptop...and it works great in Zoom, but it won't work in Teams. Any ideas?

And still won't work. Very strange.Open System Settings on your device. Select Privacy & Security > Camera. Make sure the Microsoft Teams toggle is turned on. Select Quit & Reopen or Later to quit and reopen it later.

Have you rebooted? Nothing takes care of more weird computer behavior.

Re: Tech Support
You might want to see if the camera's firmware needs an update, check the website. Teams is weird.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
Re: Tech Support
Are you using the new Teams? Pretty sure you are required to use it now, but I can't remember the cut off date.
