Aye, was me. Unless these people commenting are 85+ years old they've enjoyed some aspect of the sweet sweet milk of government assistance.

And if they are over 85, aren't they collecting Social Security checks and medicare? And the senior citizens discount at Denny's?

When He returns, He'll be all over postings like this one Johnnie. But perhaps your life has been full of enough virtue that he'll give you a pass on some Mockery. Also, you can explain to the Holy Accountant that you were just belittling these chumps for not getting a better deal on the home financing. If you've got God as your financial advisor, shouldn't you be getting more than these folks? Like, I'll bet they got ripped off on that window tinting.
Praise be to God for the blessings that he's bestowed upon this vulture...

The guy that took that picture got so fucked up by it that the ended up killing himself.

The reminder that God blessed you by having your ancestors ripped from their home as cheap labor? (too soon?)
Yep. To paraphrase Robert Hunter, if the vulture don't get ya, then the white man will.
And, as my buddy Lance the bartender at the Silver Cloud on Lombard Street use to say, (with the assurance of someone who was native to a different one,) it's a rough planet, man.

Facebook’s mobile app just grew a keen sense of hearing. Starting Wednesday, the app has the ability to recognize music and television shows playing in the vicinity of users.
The feature is designed to make it easier for users to share. When users begin to write a post, the Facebook app will offer to include information about music or shows playing in the background.
All those poor NSA technicians and analysts, out of work; replaced by an app that listens to conversations. Well, privatization!

Holy shit, is that what they're doing? I saw headlines about Facebook identifying shows and music and I assumed it was a play at competing with Shazam. I had no idea they were doing it automatically while you used the app. That's kinda evil.

Don't worry, they still have lots of emails to read.

I just want to be the first to say that when my Facebook wall is full of military people changing their profile photos and giving you the condescending "Remember what Memorial Day is all about..." line of speaking, it bothers the absolute shit out of me.
Sure, the day's meaning for me changed when I enlisted, but that doesn't mean I'm suddenly going to genuflect at American and POW flags before enjoying the day off.
Where's the Duffel Blog story about that?

Word. I think people actually need to be reminded what Memorial Day is about. It is easy to fall into thiniing it is just the unofficial start of summer and a random day off.

I can almost guarantee that the only time of the day those people spend thinking about dead soldiers is the 30 seconds it takes them to come up with their sanctimonious as fuck Facebook statuses.

I considered a post along the lines of "Everyone please take a few minutes to remember that today isn't just a day for BBQs and drinking with friends, but a day for condescendingly reminding people its not just a day for BBQs and drinking with friends before you yourself go out to a BBQ to drink with friends" but one person taking it wrong ruins the entire deal.

The fact that you guys have a day specifically to honour the military dead, means that it is almost a duty to remind people of the service provided by those men and women.
My feed had a few bandwagoners, but most of the pro-military postings this weekend were from people with sons or daughters serving. They're usually good for one or two "god bless the troops" posts a week.
Now that the weekend is over, it's back to the usual "If you were a <fill in stupid shit>, what <fill in stupid shit> would you be"? monstrosity that has fucking taken over. It's reaching critical mass. Latest one: "Are you the 70's, 80's, or 90's?" I swear I have never cared less for anyone on my feed than I do at this point in my life.
If you're friends with me on FB, you can see this, but this guy tried to start an argument with me with points I made in the article I had posted. And when I tried to explain that to him twice, he went down the toilet of articulation.

I've e-known him for about 10 years. He tried to build an internet presence but wasn't very good at it and has success with in-person clients so he stayed in that realm. He has obvious issues not realizing that he comes off like an asshole and is unable to see nuance. (Not a new thing). Which is why he rubs people the wrong way and then gets mad when people feel that way. So now if you write about fitness on the internet, he automatically assumes you do nothing else and have no clients, therefore you aren't qualified to talk about training. (Hence the failed joke.)
I'm 90% sure he friended me to try to get a slot at my event, but I've never, ever considered it. His "victory" in that exchange was my ultimate goal. It was just bizarre that he was so obtuse and that he basically devolved with every post.

Isn't Remembrance Day in the UK essentially the same thing as Memorial Day in the US?

Can't speak for the UK, but in Canada it seems to be the same idea - poppies and all - and seems to be a lot like Memorial Day.
But here, the presence of the military in everyday lives is a lot less than in the US, so for most people it isn't even a day off work. And schools are open as well.

What is your May two four (or whatever) day? I heard about this random holiday last week when I was in Syrupistan.

This girl I was friends with in HS has gone way off the deep end in the Jesus pool. She is a really sweet girl, so I have always refrained from commenting, but this one is a bit stranger than most. I'm happy for her that she has found peace in religion, but this strikes me as bordering on mental illness.
I have to point out, how does God removing chaos from inside of her mean that God doesn't allow chaos to occur in the world? And the evidence is overwhelming that without Jehovah, all hell breaks loose? I seem to recall societies functioning without HER God and getting by OK.
She also posts links to Ray "Banana Man" Comfort videos as proof of God's greatness. Someone might be getting unfriended.
Shootings, stabbings, a cop is purposely hit and killed by a deranged man, chaos, dysfunction, and on and on...and I don't have space to write about the evil that is escalating in other countries. Why does God allow all this suffering?!?!? People ask this question all the time. The One and Only True God-Jehovah-is not behind chaos and dysfunction...I know because He eliminated all of this from my life and has done the same for many others!! It was the depraved condition of my heart and desire to be led by my selfishness that made no room for God!! I had CHOSEN to exclude Him from my life; therefore, confusion and fear reigned in my mind! In the same way this country is kicking its Source and Creator out of as many places as possible. Without Jehovah, all hell breaks lose!! Literally!! And that is a fact!! The evidence is overwhelming!!! To disagree is to be in complete denial!! My heart is in anguish tonight after hearing about the umpteenth shooting in this country this year. My God and King! Remove the veil from our eyes! May we seek The Truth and recognize we are nothing without you! Our desires lead only to destruction if we do not submit to your amazing love and grace!! God help us in Jesus' name!!!

Whenever I see women dropping some version of former "depraved condition of my heart" line in the "I now have Jeebus" context, I think, "so...more than 50 dicks, then?"
You gotta respond to that nonsense before you de-friend her though, right?

At least. She's probably also good for a few lesbian and/or gang bangs as well.
