If I had to recap my weekend in three events/accomplishments, just focusing on Saturday/Sunday, two would be toilet related.

There was a picture that I will never share of what happens when you use one of those plastic spike hair snake things to clear out a toilet clog, which was the 3rd or 4th different tactic I tried and the one that worked after far too much poking around. Also had to disassemble and change the insides of a toilet that was running enough I was turning it off between uses.

I had a very exciting weekend.

I couldn't get mine to stop running, and the part I needed is no longer carried by the big boxers, so it was going to cost more than I felt was right, so I just bought a new one. We got a skirted one, which I can't recommend enough.

And make sure you have some deep sockets.

I'm impressed. Last time I tried to fix a toilet I broke the porcelain and ended up having someone come in to put the new one in. He showed me how bad or weird the connection to the floor was and how I would have definitely fucked up trying it solo.

I've swapped out three toilets in This Old House. Thankfully, no weirdness so that's a pretty easy task when I'm ranking "Stuff I can do, but would much prefer hiring someone, but... $$$."

The first time I had to do that, I thought "Really? A wax ring? The technology hasn't advanced at all?"

I don't use wax rings. They make better options that I go with, but of course every toilet comes with a wax ring. I just store them for later if I had an emergency or something.

Oooo then I’ll show you!!!

No, and I have a little gray, but I was with like a dozen other friends and realized all are bald or pretty gray/white now. Which means that now I’m thinking everyone else just assumes I’m dyeing because I made it to mid-40s mostly brown.

It’s a truly unfair world we live in. Pray for me.

On Celebrity Jeopardy just now, the category was Rhyme Time. After Jared Allen got 80% of the board including buying all five vowels, Rashad Jennings got five N's and had this left...

I’m 80 percent still brown and 46. Some gray at temples and not as lush as it used to be. But I’ll be fine.

I'm about twenty percent grey and eighty percent gone.

Luckily the stuff growing around the side still grows really fast, so I look like Bozo the clown about three weeks after a haircut.

My favorite soda is Dr Pepper, and I'm pretty sure I haven't had one all year. I opened the fridge this afternoon and noticed my wife bought a package of Dr. Pepper in those hilariously too small cans. So I took a couple cans out of the fridge, pulled out a 20 oz Yeti from the cabinet, dropped a single, large ice cube into it (typically reserved for whiskeys), and then poured both 8oz cans into the tumbler.

That first taste of a Dr. Pepper after you've been away so long is like a cosmic thread to your past. There really should be a commercial about that.

Or did they try that once with something like Honeycomb cereal?

70 popular vintage 1970s cereals we loved and we miss.

Some of these were probably regional (in the link above), if that was even a thing for a company as big as General Mills, cuz this is the first time I think I'm seeing some of these.

...and here's a gratuitous pic of a gorgeous lady from the 1970s.
