Apparently, one tour was in Van Nuys and the other was in Chatsworth. The Sybian wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 10:43 amRyan clearly got a tour than included a stop in the merkin warehouse.

There is also a group of people who work for Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network who are unionizing with the Animation Guild.

The WGA strike at least appears to be over after a provisional deal is reached. Needs to be approved by full membership.

I really hope they took the studios to the cleaners but I have my doubts.

Best part:
"To be clear, no one is to return to work until specifically authorized to by the Guild. We are still on strike until then. But we are, as of today, suspending WA picketing. Instead, if you are able, we encourage you to join the SAG-AFTRA picket lines this week."

Looks like it's a go for all now. Good news.

Between this and the UAW scoring big wins, it was a good year for organized labor.

Can’t wait for the NYT to spin that these labor wins somehow means that Biden is fucked.

Explain this to me like I'm a Canadian...
How much of the $26 is actually paid to the worker, and how much of that is paid to health insurers? The average Culinary union member in Las Vegas gets $26 an hour in both pay and benefits,

Re: The 2023-? WGA / SAG-AFTRA strike
I mean no idea. But Culinary contracts are unique in that there’s no employee cost at all (I just filled out my new benefits stuff and I have a roughly $2500 yearly co-pay) and they still have a pension plan.

Re: The 2023-? WGA / SAG-AFTRA strike
My company pays my whole premium and we have a similar out of pocket as Brian. It's usually about 25% of my salary when I get the form at the end of the year.
Edit: To be clear, this is money they pay on top of my salary. So my pay is 80% of total compensation and benefits 20%. But we do have a matching program for pension replacement so I guess total compensation from the company is higher than that.

Apparently, some of the AI stuff in the SAG deal is pretty bad. Seeing some pushback online to voting in favor of the deal.

There are more self checkout "attendants" than cashiers.

Not sure if you're kidding or not, but this is actually something I'll have to make a conscious effort to pull off. A number of items I hit there daily as part of routine info gathering and game playing.

It took me way too long to realize Scab was a play on "picket". It was one of those weird TIL things that just passed me by and when it clicked how ever many years ago I felt dumb.
