Receivers lining up like that gets ignored at least half the time. That said, you gotta know where you're lining up relative to where the ball is, son.
He was way offside. No excuse. No justification. Good penalty call.
Didn’t say he wasn’t, nor did I say it wasn’t a good call. Just mentioning that call gets ignored (a lot) for as long as I’ve ever watched football. If folks want to say there’s a new emphasis on refs actually following the rulebook? Fine. But I know what I saw.

Mahomes & Reid blowing up like that is gamesmanship.
I don't even think it has to be a point of emphasis. The main point is...that WASN'T EVEN CLOSE TO ONSIDES. Like, not remotely close. He is CLEARLY lined up offsides.

Yeah this isn’t holding where they could probably call it every play. Typically the players know to not line up farther than the ball.

Offsides and 12 men on the field penalties should objective infractions. Any complaining from the Chiefs about this is ridiculous.

Sidenote, I'm fucking howling right now:

I feel like the #2 slot in the NFC might be safer than the #1. If we are thinking that the 49ers grab the 1, they will most likely get the loser of the NFC East in Round 2, who would be a 13 or 14 win team. The NFC East winner (assuming seeds hold) would draw Detroit. No disrespect to Detroit, but Dallas or Philly can play at a higher peak.

Maybe it’s me, but I think that playoff seeding should be like what the NBA does and seed due to record. If both Philly and Dallas win out, Dallas would be a 14-3 (still seems weird) Wild Card. And the fact they’d have to go on the road against some clown NFC South winner seems off. I’m not in the idea that if a team wins its division with a losing record it shouldn’t go, but if they simply made division champs get a slot but not necessarily a top 4 seed, it would seem more equitable to me.

Yeah, I hadn't thought of that but...yeah. The #1 seed does have a potentially much harder divisional round game than the #2 seed.

That can't outweigh getting the bye, right?

it seems that he didn't look for affirmation which may be worse than just not checking at all?

Yup, it's as he walks up to the line though, that's not a check.

There was three times as many points scored in the NHL game in Las Vegas yesterday than the NFL game.

Agree. My favorite CMU jersey combo is maroon jerseys and gold pants which some think is gaudy but the color pants is a sharp look IMO.

Is it at least conceivable Daboll is semi competent and jones was the issue? Not far fetched from a few angles. Or just a dead cat bounce? And of course they haven’t won but they are competitive tonight.

Raheem Mostert has scored so many TD's this year that he just broke out the rare "pretends to have a hamstring injury" celebration.

Well, if the Titans are going to give up draft capital with a win, may as well be on MNF with a win in Miami.

Jones is certainly the biggest issue. He can't function with their OL but Tyrod Taylor and Tommy DeVito can? People have been throwing OLs under the bus for dumb QBs since back in the David Carr days. Kenny Pickett and Sam Howell could be behind their conferences' Pro Bowl OLs and still take 100 hits each season.

"I don't know that we evaluate practice performance in that way this time of the year. It's just not an environment for that."

The environment being a fucking playoff race?

The one thing DeVito seemed consistently good at last night was avoiding the pass rushers. No sacks despite constantly being under siege.
