Karl Wallinger, British musician, songwriter and record producer. He was best known for leading the band World Party and for his mid-1980s stint in the Waterboys.

Love me some World Party, but it was best that he bolted The Waterboys, cuz with him butting heads with Mike Scott, I doubt FIsherman's Blues gets done as great as it was.

Hungry Eyes will always have an ironic place in my heart because Dirty Dancing is my wife's favorite movie, but I'll appreciate him most for Go All the Way by The Raspberries. That ended up on the first Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, which we listened to constantly in the car the summer it debuted. Told the girls it was "Please Go Away".

So I’m not going to suggest the Michael Bay movie was any good, but the attack sequence, especially the Arizona explosion, man, how anyone survived that. Oh, and he later got shot down in shark-infested waters. Little surprise he trained navy pilots in survival and rescue; this guy just kept stiff-arming the Grim Reaper for decades.

Words can't convey how much I loved "SCTV" When I was a kid, it was the greatest thing I had ever seen. A cast that has never been matched, and Joe Flaherty was probably my favourite.

Back when I was working at the CBC, I was a driver on a figure skating/comedy/variety special (don't ask - it was a short-lived Canadian subgenre) and I drove Joe Flaherty every day from his hotel downtown to the arena north of the city where the show was being taped. He was such a nice guy, and funny as hell as well.

Did SCTV have a skit where a Eugene Levy character was doing a call-in show and someone said his name was "Haji"? I seem to remember Levy saying "Okay, 'Haji'". That popped into my head during the NCAA tourney, one of the players was named Haji.

Do any of yall remember that?

I remember that one, now that you mention it.

He was not a pitcher you'd expect to hit a homer. He only had 2 HRs in 600+ PAs before the AL adopted the DH.
