She was useless on anything other than anatomy and occasionally current pop music (and her sister was just as good with the latter). She struck out so many times on supposed wheelhouse topics like Harry Potter or Hunger Games, and also had a bad habit of leaving early to go home and study.

Younger daughter did the Bloomsday race in Spokane yesterday. 12K in 1:06.

Older daughter did the Maine Coast half (in Wells, ME) on Saturday in 1:43:07, finishing 28th for women and 12th in her age group. She's already signed up for a marathon in the fall.

And then there's Caity's daughter Robin, who while doing the Hoka ad shoot in South Africa, met a professional running coach, who is convinced she is a natural, and has talked her into training to start doing pro "Sky Running" (SkyRunner World Series). He's going to coach her, and she's going to try and find sponsorship deals and do 4 races this summer.

So my daughter who is working her first "real" job at Wayfair has been saddled with a shitty manager. She's super micro-managing, doesn't communicate clearly, and not big on positive feedback. She's also remote, and this is the first time she's managed people. Daughter has been thrown into the deep-end, dealing with a lot of clients, and has been to two trade shows, where she got good feedback. But then when she had her "first 90 days" review, it was mostly negative.

Its not from being a slacker...I know her, and she works hard. She's totally stressed out about it, and I understand why (the manager even said something about potentially being put on a PIP). I've told her she should always have a list of items to talk about with her manager when they meet...always write down everything she says, and repeat it back to her to make sure she's got it right...and to schedule a time to talk with her second level manager. And to hang in there for another couple months, make contacts outside of her team, and then to look to change teams when she can (after being there 6 months).

The question is...for all you other parents out there...how do you stop from having vicarious job anxiety?

Leaving after a year for a job with better pay is the way you get raises in this economy. Even in my experience of getting excessively lucky working at a place that treats me like a human being, I've moved jobs within the company a few different times, with different managers, some good, some bad.
