Re: CUBE LIFE! Office Etiquette
Snoop Syby Syb got a jobby job (offer). I'm expecting to accept it, but had final round interviews at a few other places that haven't made a decision yet. I preferred this one, and they offered the top of their salary range, so I can't imagine another offer dissuading me. One might pay bit more, but the hour+ commute a minimum of 3 days a week was daunting, and this job is fully remote with an office 30 minutes away when I do have to go in. Yet another California-based company (been working at CA based companies for the past 12 years), this time San Diego (sorry, SC!).

That's fantastic, Syb.
How long does your severance continue? Are you planning to start a new job right away, or take more time?

Re: CUBE LIFE! Office Etiquette
Severance is a few more weeks, and free COBRA goes until end of May, so I'm looking to start in May, so I don't need to pay COBRA or switch to my wife's plan. I'm going nuts, so I'm ready to get started ASAP. They floated June 3rd as the start date, but were able to move it up a week.Steve of phpBB wrote: Wed May 08, 2024 3:34 pm That's fantastic, Syb.

You should see if you can start May 24.

Re: CUBE LIFE! Office Etiquette
When I started my government job, they had me start of December 31st. There were just a few people in, and none of them felt like working, so they all just hung out with the new guy. They announced we could leave early, either at 1:00 or 3:00, then I got a paid holiday. It was the greatest.

Re: CUBE LIFE! Office Etiquette
A Chief Master Sergeant with 30 years in is retiring soon so, as is customary, a retirement ceremony invite was sent out to a segment of the base populace via email.
Well apparently that invite it also went to some civilian friends' emails and one dude hit reply all with the sentiment of "Fuck that two face piece of shit."
It prompted a return reply all from the full bird Colonel who's retiring the Chief. He left his personal phone number in the signature block.
Just gotta say, what a fucking Tuesday morning seeing that kind of correspondence on official channels.

Re: CUBE LIFE! Office Etiquette
I may have mentioned it before, but on one side of our floor has the C-suite offices. They always seem to have snacks and sodas even though we were cut off on this side of the door some time ago. No biggie, I can handle my own food, for all I know an individual buys it and brings it...I really don't know. But at any rate, it sometimes shows up in the kitchen on my side with a nice cheery "feel free!" note on it. And of course, they've been expired over a week this time. Which, somehow, seems even more disrespectful than just tossing the expired stuff.
Oh well, maybe I'm just on my grumpy bullshit again.

I am with disrespectful for that. It's got a very "we decided we didn't want this, you can have it now" feel to it.A_B wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 7:41 amI may have mentioned it before, but on one side of our floor has the C-suite offices. The idea that they get snacks and you don't is absolute bullshit. Like... gross.A_B wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 7:41 am I may have mentioned it before, but on one side of our floor has the C-suite offices.
