Woman killed in West Seattle identified, was being served paperwork
And...she was my doctor for a while, before she went completely off the deep end.A woman who was shot and killed in West Seattle on Tuesday was being served paperwork, and a man fatally shot her as she exited her home with a shotgun, police say.
Seattle Police released an update on the fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon, revealing what led up to the incident.
Shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, two people arrived at a home on the corner of Southwest Hudson Street and Lewis Place Southwest to serve a 57-year-old woman paperwork. Documents show the property was in foreclosure and was sold in an auction on Sept. 30.
The homeowner exited her home and presented a shotgun, according to police. Then, a 40-year-old man fired his handgun, shooting the woman in the torso. The man was one of the two people serving her paperwork.

Re: Random Politics
With the polls so close, I really think Allred has a shot in Texas. He's running great and effective ads regarding abortion and Republicans killing the border bill, while Cruz's ads air a lot less and lately have been strictly anti-trans (specifically allowing trans girls participating in sports) that are laughably bad. Someone called them SNL-skit worthy.

Re: Random Politics
I trust nothing until the final vote is tallied. And even then, Ken Paxton is still alive and not in prison in Texas, so I can't even be hopeful if Ted Cruz loses.
(And sure, a lt governor should have zero effect on a vote for Senate, but again, Texas.)

Another way to look at Texas is that if the GOP has to play defense there, they’re going to need to spend money there and not somewhere else. Nobody has an unlimited war chest.

Nope. Sure didn't.
I just don't think it's a real enough situation to matter and Republicans will still turn out.

His point wasn't that they would win, but that it's a good thing that the other side is actually having to spend money to defend the seats.

'Trump Bible' one of few that meet Walters' criteria for Oklahoma classrooms
'Trump Bible' one of few that meet Walters' criteria for Oklahoma classrooms
First off...why in the hell is the Department of Education buying bibles...but geez, this is just a bit too obvious, right?Superintendent Ryan Walters isn’t just talking about buying Bibles for schools.
Bids opened Monday for a contract to supply the state Department of Education with 55,000 Bibles. According to the bid documents, vendors must meet certain specifications: Bibles must be the King James Version; must contain the Old and New Testaments; must include copies of the Pledge of Allegiance, Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights; and must be bound in leather or leather-like material.
A salesperson at Mardel Christian & Education searched, and though they carry 2,900 Bibles, none fit the parameters.
But one Bible fits perfectly: Lee Greenwood’s God Bless the U.S.A. Bible, endorsed by former President Donald Trump and commonly referred to as the Trump Bible. They cost $60 each online, with Trump receiving fees for his endorsement.
Mardel doesn’t carry the God Bless the U.S.A. Bible or another Bible that could meet the specifications, the We The People Bible, which was also endorsed by Trump. It sells for $90.

Did I mention that she lives in my hometown? A woman I went to high school with posted on Facebook that she used to know her, and that (unsurprisingly) she went off the deep end and drank deeply of the kool-aid awhile back.

Maybe not cast differently but perhaps not cast at all depending on how the walk went.
Re: Random Politics
Living in Maryland I’m getting inundated with ads for the Senate slot between former Governor Larry Hogan (R, who in his defense handed the COVID response competently) and state politician Angela Alsobrooks (D). It came out about a month ago that she owed about 45 grand in back taxes for a homeowner rebate she wasn’t entitled to. The GOP is hammering her on this in ads, which every time I see them makes me audibly ask “oh, so NOW you motherfuckers care about tax evasion?”

Re: Random Politics
INUNDATED. Alsobrooks campaign called me for $/Support the other day and I told them I would vote for her but only because she isn't Hogan. Can't send another R to the Senate even though Hogan was ok for MD. Education not withstanding. Alsobrooks is hammering Hogan on his lack of abortion support and tying it to the national ban if the R's take control.L-Jam3 wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 11:04 am Living in Maryland I’m getting inundated with ads for the Senate slot between former Governor Larry Hogan (R, who in his defense handed the COVID response competently) and state politician Angela Alsobrooks (D). Yeah, between YouTube and whatever I'm watching on the old school channels, nothing but Alsobrooks and Hogan ads.
While she seems like a decent enough politician, the history of corruption in Prince George's politics makes it very hard for me to vote for her. I did not vote for her in the primary. I will, of course, vote for her over Hogan.
One really weird and interesting dynamic is that Hogan was equated with Hitler and the dreaded "socialism" tag in large parts of MD during the pandemic. I took drives out to parts of northern and western MD and the place was littered with anti-Hogan signage.
I'm not sure those folks are over that. I just drove out to a farm in Mt. Airy and the pro-Trump stuff was everywhere. Not nearly as much for Hogan.

I get shitloads of local commercials during normal local ad breaks for football (college and NFL), but that's for games and not scripted or otherwise network TV. And I suppose more than a few of them are national ads as well, but several are definitely focused on the Prez and an amendment to allow school vouchers or not.DaveInSeattle wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 1:51 pmWe never see them either...but that may also be because we only watch TV via streaming (youtube.tv)Steve of phpBB wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 1:21 pmHe's heavily advertising in my Twitter feed too.Nonlinear FC wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 11:40 am I get multiple texts a day from that campaign.
