Of all people I'd think you wouldn't stand for their stolen Grittiness.

Keith Yandle is turning over in his retirement.
If Saints and Bengals fans aren't going to war over "Who Dat" vs. "Who Dey", I can allow it in a different sport entirely.

So there’s no “Process of the Catch” in baseball?

No, because of transfer.

I'm waiting for a receiver to argue that he lost the ball because he was trying to lateral.

Casty made a baseball move. That’s why it was a catch.

I guess they found the rare time having OF umps is actually a detriment. Only person really screened on that was the guy who had to make the call.

(And FWIW, he did the right thing. Its much easier to go backwards and return the runner than try to guess where the runners would have ended up.)

Is Nola tipping his pitches? They’re jumping on every first offering.

Could just be their scouting? 126 pitchers with 100+ innings, Nola was 25th in first pitch strikes but 101st in overall pitches in the zone. Also looks like his only real plus pitch is the knuckle-curve so jumping him to avoid that as a putaway makes sense.

(Anecdotally, I don't really get Nola. I would never guess him to be a legit 2 just watching him pitch.)

That kind of talk will not endear you to the people of northern Ohio.

ETA: even if I agree with you for reasons both biased and practical I do get AN argument for Clase. If a reliever was ever going to have a chance to win again it would have to be with stats as dominating as his but not in a year where a starter wins the damn Triple Crown.

Still can’t argue he sounded like his dog died while trying to act like someone else was to blame for Stanton grounding into a DP.

It was certainly weird though he seemed to be referencing something previously mentioned though can’t imagine why it would provoke that response. Maybe he’s such a Cards fan he hates the Royals that much haha.

Seemed to be moe about Stanton's injury history and playoff underperformance being factors in him not being a stud. I didn't get the full context either.

That actually sounds pretty logical. It's probably true that most of his friends in media are Yankee fans, but I don't know why that would make you root for them--seems like it would have the opposite effect.

Costas dug into the "Yankee Stadium" lore stuff through the first two games which I found funny given that Kauffman Stadium has hosted more World Series games since this Yankee Stadium opened.

Yeah, I zone in and out with Costas, but I swore at one point he was talking about the stadium and Ted Williams like he played there and not across the street where the playground now is.

I was enamored with Machado as a rookie but he's done everything possible to turn me off over these past 12(!) years. Not sure I have any issues with the rest of the team.

The Dodgers whining about that baseball being thrown at the dugout negates anything the Padres have ever done. Not to mention the dog-whistling by Rosenthall.

Maybe it's because I can't hear his frequency that explains why his audio is always about 75% lower than the main broadcasts audio.

You’re right. This is terrifying and I apologize to the Dodgers. Machado must be kept out of the playoffs until the MLB conducts an investigation.

Profar's hidden ball trick with that would-be home run was a dick move.

Ohtani, who has no history of dickhead on-field stuff, flips his bat after a HR. I'm going to strongly bet it didn't go into the dugout. Machado, who has a documented history of starting fights and actually trying to injure players, throws the ball at or into the opposing dugout in a completely unusual way. Totally the same, if you're looking to force them to be in balance.

(Profar's catch and reaction was funny and Betts almost heading into the dugout on the HR last night further proves that.)

I think Profar was, at least on a surface level, just trying to playfully interact with the fans. He probably shouldn't do that, but I thought that entire exchange (including the fan chucking the ball back onto the field) was no big deal.

Tatis, on the other hand, strutting around and practically hip thrusting at the crowd was horseshit and was making an already heated situation much worse.

Zinging a ball towards the Dodger dugout was (and is) a dick move that deserved to be called out. It's not even in the "unwritten rules" zone. Ball very easily could've skipped over that little railing and popped someone in the face.

And until I actually see that Otani's bat actually come into or close to the Padres dugout... not buying that one.

The only Dodgers side issue w/ Machado is acting like it was at all dangerous. "Its a dick move by a player with a history of dick moves. We're not surprised." and move on. Don't appeal to the league or act scared by it.

Oh yeah, he's been excellent and would win a Mariano Award or whatever for top reliever. But ERA is the only argument and that gets shaky when you consider all runs, not just what's decided to be earned.

(He's another one I don't understand because his fastball is exceptional and with that ERA you'd expect massive strikeout numbers but they aren't there.)
