I guess it's central Jersey, but if one of you guys used me as your call from a random Camden jail cell, well, you should have texted first.

Re: The OFFICIAL Towns in North Jersey Discussion Thread ...
No, Camden is clearly South Jersey. The 856 is fully SJ, along with 609. Sigh.

Yeah, take this to the South Jersey thread. Those lowlifes are far more likely to end up in jail.L-Jam3 wrote: Mon Jul 22, 2024 10:08 am No, Camden is clearly South Jersey. The 856 is fully SJ, along with 609. Sigh.

Re: The OFFICIAL Towns in North Jersey Discussion Thread ...
Part of the reason the whole north/south jersey thing is so confusing is that normal people think of NJ as effectively being bookended by NYC and Philadelphia.

My high school sports conference in rural Colorado covered an area as big as New Jersey.mister d wrote: Mon Jul 22, 2024 10:40 am Part of the reason the whole north/south jersey thing is so confusing is that normal people think of NJ as effectively being bookended by NYC and Philadelphia.

Dunno, sounds like a Delbarton man to me.
My wife and cerrano used m/nanny in Harding. Those kids might have been ok but I don’t thinks spoiled kids are a rarity.

I was expecting south jersey. Sounded more trash than spoiled.

And as soon as I saw the name “Morgan”, the zip code no longer factored into the explanation. (No offense to any Swampers with a son named Morgan.)
Re: The OFFICIAL Towns in North Jersey Discussion Thread ...
Looks like we started following the same new restaurant today, Rass.

Did you ever make it to that taco place? I didn’t…mister d wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2024 12:34 pm Looks like we started following the same new restaurant today, Rass.

Nope. Rarely eat tacos out near home and if we do it’s the fried fish ones from miti miti.
Re: The OFFICIAL Towns in North Jersey Discussion Thread ...
Ran past there today (as I have in the past but haven’t ever eaten there) but noticed the pending Greek street food place up the street today and that looks like it might be theirs too?mister d wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2024 1:01 pm Nope. Sure is. You can see the future menu because they have the same place already in park slope.
Re: The OFFICIAL Towns in North Jersey Discussion Thread ...
A soul food place in the area currently has a Bermuda Fish Sandwich special, which is fried catfish, coleslaw and cheese on toasted cinnamon raisin bread and I think I need to try it?

Is it a cultural blind spot or a typo on field catfish?

I've had my share of catfish in the wild so I was wondering if there was some secret kind up there that tastes like gabagool or something.

Hadn't thought about garter snakes in who knows how long. And this morning a co worker told me he saw one cutting the grass.

I'm not a native, so not my fight, but I say there is. RU will occasionally do a "cheer if you're from..." thing on the scoreboard and will flash through North, South and then Central, and Central always seems to be the loudest.

Re: The OFFICIAL Towns in North Jersey Discussion Thread ...
Offline I said basically the same thing; (1) having a strong opinion on this would mean I've somehow gone Full Jersey which I refuse to ever do and (2) I've gone through this waaaaaaay too much already with upstate / not upstate / downstate(???) NY ... HOWEVER, if I had to say something, I'd lean towards acknowledging the existence of a central NJ. North Jersey, as a standalone location, to my brain means "close enough to NYC or Orange County that its a quick train or drive". Essentially its the NYC metro area extended. Trenton is way too far away to be north, but its also not even as far south as Philadelphia so it can't be south, therefore I think central has to exist. The only way I could see central not existing is if you instead recognize "the shore" as a distinct 3rd segment, so now the lower border moves up and you can kinda/sorta see Trenton included as the delineator. I don't know.
Re: The OFFICIAL Towns in North Jersey Discussion Thread ...
My gf from 40 years ago (things that make you feel old) was adamant that she was from Central Jersey - not north or south Jersey. (Mt. Holly)

Re: The OFFICIAL Towns in North Jersey Discussion Thread ...
That feels like south jersey denialism whether or not you recognize a central?
Re: The OFFICIAL Towns in North Jersey Discussion Thread ...
I have to be really magnanimous to accept Central Jersey as a thing, but Mount Holly is definitely not it.
I’ll be willing to concede that 195 is central. Like I don’t think Six Flags is North Jersey, even if the clientele is more South Jersey shore. If there is a Central Jersey, that’s it.
Back when we just had 609 and 201 it was a lot easier.
