I think because for the WS they set the start date in stone at some point and don't readjust if the LCS end early.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

I think Rass is on the right track. If both LCS went 7 and they had to use their aces, they would be rested and available Friday for G1. Plus by putting G1 on a Friday, they don't have to go against SNF as it would be a travel day. I think anymore they just set up the WS, and then work the entire season back from there.

I thought I heard that if both went 5 or less it would have been an earlier start date.

I don't know about the rest of you, but this is the most excited I've been for a World Series that didn't involve my guys in quite some time.

Exact fucking opposite. Doubt I'll watch a single pitch.

I do feel sorry for Cowboys fans though. Who will they root for!?!?

I can see it both ways. Some people will love the big show of it all. Some hate the big market and the fact that MLB was rooting for this. I'll be surprised if it isn't good for MLB though.

As a Yankees fan, I'm obviously biased.

Gotta say I didn't think Berti was at risk at all of losing his spot. Wouldn't have even made my top 5 at risk and if I put him 6th it would have been in a "this isn't realistic anyway" sense. Pretty shocking.

Hip flexor. Makes sense now.

Official prediction is this is evenly matched and the series only goes 5 but I don’t know which way. I think the dodgers lineup is the best unit of the four and their pitching is the worst and either the former is too strong or the latter can’t hold up. Either way it’ll be decisive. If that makes sense.

I never really thought much about how all the old timey Dodgers/A’s/Giants WS games were dark even though it was like 2PM there (I’m exaggerating slightly).

Boone is going to pull Cole too early and only because it’s 2-1 and not 2-0 or 2-2.

because i'm way too fking hyper-sensitive to these things i noticed her at first pitch and also noted she didn't even look up until after the first inning. i'm convinced she was paid to sit there with that fucking hat on all game - and yup, never reacted once all night because she was never watching. these fucking assholes ruin everything. almost.

Wearing that hat tells people “yes, I am totally in favor of bullying groups who don’t deserve it.” I at very least hope multiple people told her to fuck herself.

Well, that was terrible for some of us.

Aaron Boone managed his way out of another win. First, by pulling Cole after 88 pitches when he was cruising.

But the cherry on top is having a guy who hasn't thrown in a month come in to the most pressure-packed situation of his life.

And then, to make it even worse, he walks Betts to force Cortes to throw strikes.

Freddie must have been licking his chops.

Amazing game from any non-Yankee fan's perspective. And in the end, if Judge can't get going, they'll lose this thing regardless.

Not only that, but the Yankees, Giants and Knicks are all playing at the same time. It’s too bad that they couldn’t squeeze in a Rangers game to complete the main line NYC set. I would not fault anyone for playing a Dodgers/Steelers/Cavs parlay to celebrate, it seems like a good play.

Huh, guess I haven't commented here. 100% with you on Cole, pulling your ace to get into the pen that early was insane. Howevah ... I was down with Cortes over Hill in that situation because I don't think a gimmick pitcher (which Hill remains) is the right choice to face three consecutive HoFers and because I think the Yankees just badly needed Cortes to be another leverage arm in the pen. It was absolutely a risk and sucks it had to be tested in real time, but at that point you're already so far into the pen there's nothing that isn't a risk. (I was also pretty convinced Ohtani would have ended it himself having originally come from a league where breaking pitchers are far more the standard.)

Other shits:
- I get they ended up keeping it close and getting the lead runner on, but what the fuck is Stroman on the roster for if not to come in for Rodon and avoid extra looks at the leverage relievers down 4-1 early against their ace? Unless you're getting completely blown out, you have to assume Holmes and Cousins are going to pitch every game. And then they do you get late without conceding any more and you bring in a guy who only made the roster because Hamilton got hurt? Just nonsensical. If that's the plan, you use Leiter first and then start getting into the better pitchers as you stick around.
- I fucking hate Verdugo so much. I don't know if I said it here or not, but every plate appearance has the vibe of a kid whose parent is so sick of watching them take pitches that they offer $5 for simply putting the ball in play. Swings early, incessant weak contact. He's only struck out like 12% of the time and has somehow found a way to still be a less valuable hitter in the playoffs than Judge. Can't use Jasson because for some reason its worse to risk giving away outs in the field than add them at the plate. Can't use Grisham because he's actually a plus CF and that would either mean moving Judge or risking a Judge misplay where everyone knows the dude standing in LF would have caught it. Can't play Oswaldo because ... no idea. Just have to let Verdugo and his 80 mph exit velo run the auto-out before rolling the lineup. And the whole "he's in there for his glove" shit? He (1) badly misplayed a carom in a former home park and (2) was +1 for the season outs above average. He's "not bad" in the OF, not some Kiermaier or Michael A.Taylor (or Volpe) where you really can live with the bat to keep the glove. In fucking left field, no less. God dammit.
- Rodon is Javy Vazquez and both just need/ed to find the right sports psychologist because it was never about stuff.
- Judge is clearly in his head and thus in-between everything and trying to hit breaking stuff down he's always been smart enough to take.
- Wells might actually have an uncloseable hole up and hard. Dot dot dot.
- I feel like my brain knows Buehler isn't what he was but I still think they have a big advantage in the matchup and I'd take the Dodgers tonight.
- I'm honestly glad Ohtani isn't out because he's just too good to miss this and it would taint a comeback.

If Nelson had even had 1-2 outings before then I might agree.

But I'd rather have a gimmick pitcher, especially if you're going to intentionally walk the bases full.

Alex Verdugo is my least favorite Yankee since Johnny Damon. Not playing Jasson when you can't score runs is inexcusable. Jasson should be in the lineup tonight and pulled for Verdugo for defense late if necessary.

I know they took steps to speed up the games, but one thing baseball could do for itself is not be in the fourth inning at 9:45 at night in a game being played on the East coast.

Dodgers could become the first team to clinch a World Series in all three iterations of Yankee Stadium (which not even the New York Yankees have done).

It was YS3’s first year. Another interesting trivia piece is the Yankees won the pennant in the first year of every iteration of Yankee Stadium.
