I’m most interested in why were two guys wearing sunglasses, and why did one of them have an oven mitt on?

Wait, did he steal the oven mitt before being kicked out? Is the oven mitt guy taking the fall like Sidney Carton? Did they both have oven mitts?

The Athletic acting like the Yankees fans were celebrating these guys getting kicked out is comical. Especially when the video they posted shows a random fan giving them a hug.

Well that makes up for the base running fuckery I guess.

This has to be for Beautiful Luke to win or lose. No Kahnle or someone else nonsense; he’s only at like 21 pitches which used to be three batters for post-Mariano closers.

Did you consider that the extra exertion caused by running out a double may cause someone to be a half of a quarter of an eighth of a second late in game 5, so they should have not been so greedy about runs in game 4? Did you ever stop and think about anyone but yourself and every other Yankee fan except one?

I 100% thought "hey man, calm down" both times Soto was flying around the bases in the 9th, so kinda?

No they had the Yankees bat in the bottom of the 9th just for some "extra practice" like youth leagues sometimes do.

Just saw a replay angle I hadn't seen (I didn't turn game on until 4th inning or so) and holy fuck that tim robinson looking guy could easily be charged with assault. That could have ended very badly for Mookie. Dude was holding his arm awkwardly against the padding (which probably kept it from being worse).

I was really hoping one of those guys was Jeffrey Maier all growed up... And I don't like making general statements about fanbases, because there are idiots in every single group, but... There's some kind of argument to be made that this is the result when you lionize the actions of a little kid interfering with a playoff game.

I was willing to chalk it up to a couple of guys who got carried away. But then they had an article about them on espn and they were all like “Dat’s wut we do when you come ta our house!” and it read more as, if not intentional, than at least in their minds when they got those seats. Fucking jabronis.

Turns out one of the guys is college friends with Rob Gronkowski...because of course he is...

Rob Gronkowski says he was college friends with Yankees fan who grabbed Mookie Betts' glove
Gronkowski confirmed in a post on social media that his college friend is the fan in the gray jersey, Austin Capobianco. Along with John Peter, the two fans were kicked out of Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night and were banned from attending Game 5 in New York on Wednesday.

Per Gronkowski, Capobianco was a member of Arizona's club hockey team, which Gronkowski described as a group of "maniacs." He also described him as a devoted sports fan.

"He is all in for his teams. He is all in for the Yankees," Gronkowski said, adding that he remembered Capobianco talking about the Yankees "all the time."

The Yankees banned two fans and gave their tickets away to four people, if you’re still wondering how soulless they are

I don't know if the Yankees fanbase is any worse than anyone else's. But there's definitely a NYC mentality that celebrates people (mostly guys) who don't give a fuck if they're assholes.

That's how some random property developer became a national celebrity and then president. Nobody knows, or cares, about property developers in other cities. But if you're a big enough asshole, NYC will celebrate you.

If I was the Yankees, I would have tried not to make 3 errors in one inning when you have a 5 run lead in an elimination game.

Fair but he's also a much better manager than he was 5 years ago - seems less-afraid to make a hard decision and really delivered a master class this entire postseason in roster management.

I was first in line ripping him in 2018-9 but man he killed it this year especially. This one eventually gets him into the Hall.

How did New Yankee Stadium get away with being only 314 down the RF line? I thought all new parks need to be minimum 330 down the line unless there’s a wall (Houston LF). Did they just make the argument that it’s the same exact measurements as the old Stadium?

Tradition, baby. That’s what old Yankee stadium was known for. So they wanted to keep it going.
