It will be the option of last resort, she just started high school and I really don't want to disrupt that.

Oldest came home and told me one of her teachers, who has a same sex wedding planned for next year, was pretty emotional in class today. I would love to fucking [redacted] all the people who are responsible for this.

Sorry if I already posted this, but I have brain fog today. Kelli and I were talking about how as Harper has gotten older, we really will trust her with whoever she chooses to date. She's got a great head on her shoulders, doesn't have time for fools, and seems like she'd be looking for someone to date where the relationship will emulate what she sees at home. As we were discussing what we have to fear for them and the whole pregnancy thing came up. That's when Kelli confessed she is over 50% certain Harper is gay. Obviously, we don't give a shit who she loves as long as she is happy and treated right, and we know that being LGBTQ+ can bring another set of problems, but given the state we live, it would be nice not to have to worry about her getting pregnant from consensual sex.

for the record all, definitely follow Mr. D's lead with REDACTED on certain random thoughts. I think everyone here does, but...

Our good friends in Scotland have already extended an invitation for us to move there. I think I could do it with my Canadian passport, but might be an issue for my wife.
Is your wife automatically allowed to move with you to Canada? Do you know if adult kids are?

Good question. My wife is researching that issue.

apparently fuckface confirmed today they are coming for the full on abolishment of dept of ed as one of their first priorities. I do wonder about the millions of parents of spec ed supported children who voted for him that will immediately feel the consquence of that.

And, on a personal note, since Jen manages the Title 1 budget for balt city schools, her job has a sell-by date sometime in 2025 I guess. Hard to even know how to think about the immediate future, to tell you all the truth.

I'm about to be 54. We do like our home in northern maryland, if any of you remember before I nuked facebook the pics I would post from the yard and what not, moved there three years ago and planned on staying there until at least retirement if not beyond. Gentle five acres, rural, lovely.

I guess I need to start thinking about moving. Or something. We can't afford the full loss of her salary. Not sure what a job market will look like with the massive layoffs coming from DC in the next year as well, around the DMV, but it won't be pretty.

I have to take an expert depo in a large bad birth injury case in an hour, guess I need to try and find some focus in that process, but...hard to feel anything other numbly despondent to tell you the truth.

I guess I am overwhelmingly sad, if I had to name it. Numb just to keep that sadness at as much of a remove as possible. But the defense mechanisms are starting to fail.

I'm sorry you're feeling so shitty, Aaron. That really sucks.

I am (desperately) holding onto hope that the craziest shit that requires legislation won't get through, because the newly elected representatives in swing districts will want to hold onto their jobs.

But that is not something I am willing to bet on.

So I’m not going anywhere for awhile. I do live in one of the most, if not the most liberal states in the country, so if any of your loved ones decide to move here, I can try to help them out.
The vote on Prop 6, the one to get rid of forced prison labor, is failing. Prop 32, raising minimum wage, is failing. Prop 36, to increase penalties for some theft and drug crimes, is winning.

Not doing this to pick on you, sancarlos, just saying it's not that liberal.
I voted Yes on Prop 36. Few things make my blood boil more than the daily videos of the mass shoplifting rings.

I voted No on Prop 6. I had no strong feelings either way so opted for the status quo. People I know who had a job in prison actually liked it.

I voted Yes on Prop 32. My people deserve more than a yearly $0.10 raise.
