I've been avoided reading any news since the election...(today I read the comics and the sports section in the Sunday paper).

But I did see somewhere that Gaetz has already resigned his congressional seat, as a way to forestall the release of the investigation of him being a sex creep with young girls.

But for a kleptocracy to work at a high level, you need a strong leader with some degree of political talent and foresight, and the ability to keep everyone in line. Take Putin for example. Otherwise, they tend to topple into themselves because since everyone is out for themselves, they turn on each other. So instead of becoming something like Russia, we are more likely to turn into... I don't know. Pinochet-era Chile? Random Central American country in the 80s?

So best case scenario is Pinochet's Chile... that's uplifting. I don't disagree with you, I don't see Trump having the interest in doing the work to hold it all together, and I can totally see the shitbags he is putting in place turning on each other in a power struggle.
