“We lost our health care, eggs are now $15 a dozen, my 401(k) is only worth 20% of what it was in 2024, polio is back, and police are hanging blacks and trans in the street, with their rotting corpses stinking it up everywhere, but I don’t have to worry about changing the clocks. Go Trump!”

The Jocks in Jockland have been wanting this change for years. Something to do with it gets darker earlier in Jockland, like they need more light to inject drugs, celebrate ginger people, deep fry everything and drink more whisky...
It is overcast all the time up North, so the dour, light skinned cunts do need more light mind.

I wasn't suggesting we follow their lead on that (it's dumb, imho), just pointing out that it's apparently not crippling for people to deal with widely varying sunrise and sunset times across a country and year.Brontoburglar wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2024 9:51 amThe US has about 1,000 more miles east to west, so we'd probably need at least two time zonesShirley wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2024 9:41 am The entire country of India, the most populous country in the world, operates on a single time zone, offset by 30 min from most other time zones. My wife’s father was a farmer. He said he worked from daylight until dusk, anyway, so what did it matter to him?

That’s the solution by the way. Nobody has to do anything unless it’s light out. I guess we’d have to figure out dinner every night but that’s a small price to pay.

You're not giving Elon enough credit. The guy knows how to streamline a business. He took over X, then he streamlined the staff, streamlined the user base, streamlined the advertisers, streamlined the profits, streamlined the stock price...

This isn’t even a thing to get mad at Dems about, frankly. Literally, we are at the point where he snaps his fingers and stops the economy, he’s unelected. It’s pure oligarchy. It’s even worse than that.

Ok. So maybe Joe Biden can direct his Attorney General or something to deal with it.
I'm seriously not going to care about this shit. Democrats don't. So what the fuck ever.

The literal ability of one person to shut down the government with a tweet isn’t a thing to get mad at the Dems about and what not.Johnnie wrote: Wed Dec 18, 2024 9:21 pm Ok. So maybe Joe Biden can direct his Attorney General or something to deal with it.

It’s czar shit. It’s genuinely terrifying. He had tweets promising to crash the economy so something new can be rebuilt from the ashes pre-election. He isn’t affected by it if it goes like that but everyone else is.
Don’t know what to tell you , but this isn’t a political thing. This is something else. And it is exceptionally bad.

Johnnie's right in that it doesn't discriminate but yeah, 'll take cowardly, corporate democrats with a fabric of a moral conscience all day over the way these sociopaths are about to fuck us raw.

This is all absolutely something to be mad at democrats about given they were singularly tasked with preventing this from happening.

Sure. If the cops were specifically protecting your home and told you everything was going to be fine, you'd be a little pissed off at them.sancarlos wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2024 1:06 pm That’s like yelling at the cops for your house getting broken into.

I think that is the advantage that Musk is so high on his own supply/fucking weird more than just his autism spectrum. The other Man Behind the Curtain types (Cheyney, Bannon) knew from their years of pulling levers to at least not be a public face for your machinations. They knew how to steer people to get what they want and make it look like to their puppets that it was the President's idea. This dumbass is just too out in the open and starving for approval he's just going to shit it up. Wile E. Coyote would look at Musk and say "man, I think that you're going to get too much unnecessary blowback."

This is 1,000% not going to happen, but the TL;DR and working theory is that if there isn't a Speaker of the House on January 20th then 91 year old Senate Pro Tempore Chuck Grassley becomes president.

Re: We Doing This Shit Again? (Trump Admin Meltdown II)
Just slipped and violated my rule about not talking politics at work, and man am I shocked to find out a specific person is Trumpy. I was always very impressed by her, and she is a Sr. Director in HR FFS! HR people are usually super Liberal ... She first made a comment saying, "well your son is a big Trump supporter and you're not, right?" I blurted out, "Oh, God no!" before I realized it. Then she said, "Oh, I don't want to get political." But we were discussing preparing for an OFCCP audit (government agency overseeing federal contracts), and she mentioned the huge lawsuit involving American Airlines and the OFCCP, and mentioned being thrilled that DOGE will get rid of the OFCCP. She mentioned how great DOGE will be, and I lost control. I was respectful and calm, but I couldn't help going through reasons why Elon is terrifying. She said she sees my point, but is optimistic that they'll do good, "just imagine how great it would be if government operated like a business!" I expressed my fears that Elon and Vivek will turn the US into an Oligarchy like post-Soviet Russia... She was surprised when I said they are looking to get rid of programs like Social Security, Medicaid and basically everything that doesn't work to improve their personal abilities to make money. She said Social Security would never be on the table, and I said Trump keeps saying he doesn't care what the Constitution says, so why would he care about other laws or norms.
So I looked up this "huge lawsuit" involving American Airlines, as we were both surprised I never heard about it. I Googled it, and only 4 pages of hits came up, and all of them "news" articles from cites I've never heard of like American Faith News, Catholicvote.org, Econotimes and FoxBusiness was the only source I recognized. Basically, some group called America First Legal sued American Airlines alleging their DEI practices constituted quotas and were discriminatory. America First Legal sounded awful Trumpy, so I looked it up and their first listed founder is Stephen Miller! It looks like this is being touted as the first victory in the War on Woke. Anyways, I can't shake my new impression of this woman. 15 years ago, I would have said it was stupid to turn on someone so quickly because of their political beliefs... but here we are.
