Stoked about the US team, but I also really want a Hagel Canada jersey.

Ottawa claiming the Rangers are "tampering" with Tkachuk because a beat writer mentioned interest and potential talks is pretty embarrassing.

Avalanche are desperate to solve their goalie issues. They’ve now traded away both of the goaltenders they rostered at the beginning of the season. The Sharks basically got a good-looking prospect in Kovalenko, plus a 2nd, and Georgiev in return for Mackenzie Blackwood.

Nikolai Kovalenko was on the Av’s’ 2nd power play unit, but according to what I read, was ready for more ice time than what he was getting. So, I’m looking forward to seeing him in teal.

Interesting symmetry - almost exactly 29 years ago, the Avalanche were having goalie issues and pulled a midseason trade, sending Andrei Kovalenko (and other assets) for a new goalie (and other assets).

Andrei is Nikolai’s father. The new goalie was Patrick Roy.

They have a lot of guys who will be UFAs too (including Georgiev) so they can get a bunch of draft capital at the trade deadline.

Oh yeah. That’s a given. Mikael Granlund is as good as gone already. If offers are good, Toffoli, Sturm, Ceci, Rutta, Wennberg and Kunin might go, too.

Proud tradition of Rangers backup goalies flopping in lead roles.

Speaking of the Rangers, they’re a real fucking mess right now! 2-1 to Chicago in a game that looked far too evenly matched. Have to imagine something major happens before the break.

I hate Drury right now more than I did when he scored with 7.7 to go.

Seems like a desperation trade. Kraken take a flyer on a talented but underperforming guy, and the Rangers get a bag of pucks in return? Oh, and there's this for ya, too, Mr. D:

Whenever you can beat the trade freeze and get a shitty 3rd pair but TOUGH AMERICAN defenseman, you have to jump.

Drury and this framing that the players are solely to blame can both fuck off. If you list out everyone that matters on the Rangers, whether its the core or the kids, every single one predates him taking over 3.5 years ago except for Trocheck. He came in with most of the pieces in place just needing a little time and he's done shit-all to improve add a finishing touch. Fuck Drury, fuck the Sabres, fuck his pizza place and fuck Drury again. Scott Gomez was better.

2019 might be the worst draft ever. Other than Hughes at #1 nobody has stuck.

8 of the top 19 already traded. Cozens and Zegras getting traded soon.

Defense and goaltending have possibly finally stabilized at something approaching not gawdawful?

Plus the Rangers unexpectedly stink. Not sure if you heard about that.

Red Wings on a 2-9-1 slide, including their last three, which was capped last night by getting booed by the home fans while being shut out by STL. Feels like it's starting to turn a little sour.

Lalonde fired in Detroit and Todd McLellan is the new coach, signing a multi-year deal. Assistant Bob Boughner is also gone.

So are the caps cool with playing 6-4 when a goalie is pulled just to give Ovi a better empty netter? Looked like it last night.

Can’t even blame him for this (unless he lets Drury further ruin it because he thinks Drury is super cool or something).

Yeah, didn’t Drury set all this in motion by ruining the team harmony by publicly putting various players up for trade? He should be cut loose, methinks.

I don't pay attention to the behind the scenes details, but doesn't this feel like it came from above and didn't start with Drury?
