Has there ever been a boxing match where a guy got knocked out in the 2nd. Then got knocked out again in the 3rd. Then got knocked out again in the 4th. Then had to finish the 12?

It may take a butt-whoppin like this to make Brazil reassess. They have played some ugly football over the last 8 years and become unlikable. They need to back to their samba ways. As someone said earlier, even Brazillian names aren't as fun. They need a better sounding striker than Fred.

Yeah, I was just talking to someone about that... What if it's Netherlands, it could be a total debacle, because what motivation would they have at that point? If it's ARG, it will be very weird, but the regional haterade should be enough to get the blood up.

Brazil-Holland in the third place game could be quite entertaining. Could see like a 6-4 scoreline in that one.
I imagine Brazil will change as many players as possible, and the guys who come in will probably be wrapped too tight to play well, but it can't be worse than this. Better question is how many of these guys will continue on with the team after this? You can't just scrap everyone I guess.

Brazil has to reassess. Their league plays a dirty style where everything is a foul. They have gotten used to playing this dirty.
It will take a few more world cups for brazil to feature again.
If this were cricket Germany would have declared.

I don't think it's the players, though. In terms of going forward, they still have the most talented pool of players on the planet.
But they've been playing a bullshit, cynical, plodding shit style of soccer for at least 10 years now.
They need to a radical regression to the days of Zico and Socrates... Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho... Somewhere along the way they've lost samba soccer and the creativity and rhythm that made them so special.

I told my brother-in-law before the match Germany would win 2-0 and he agreed with a German win. It was highly entertaining to text back and forth as the game got out of hand. This Brazil team just hasn't been as fun to watch as past ones and was easy to root against.
Edited because has and hasn't aren't quite the same word...

Must say, this really couldn't have happened to a more deserving team.
They were in trouble from the moment the ref refused to call fouls when they dove. But great God almighty, they looked like they quit at 2-0. That Kroos goal off the kickoff to make it 4-0...
Unreal.

I agree with everything except the statement about them having such a talented pool of players. If that was the case, then why are their best striker options Fred and Jo? Where are the other players like Neymar that they can plug in in case of injury? They don't exist.
If you look at the players getting taken to Europe, it's functional players like Ramirez, Willan, Luiz and even Oscar. None of these guys are Ronaldinho or Rivaldo or even Robinho. Like you said, for the past 10 plus years, Brazil has been sending less talented players to the big Euro leagues and it's affected their play. They either don't have the talent or are not developing the flair players like they used to. They've chosen winning over entertaining and that's to everyone's detriment.

This.
If you ever watch the Brazillian league, it's crap. 90 minutes of fouling and cheating.
Lucas Moura, Miranda, Felipe Luis, Coutinho, Marquinhos, Sandro, and Lucas Leiva were left behind.
Fred's playing in Brazil, Bernard is playing in Ukraine! Scolari still picked them.

WTF just happened? I had the game on my iPod, but was working and not really paying attention. Saw the first goal, and lost connection to my server. Got back on and rebooted the Watch ESPN app, had to sign in with cable provider... caught Khedira' s goal. Wow, 2-0. Look up at the score, HOLY FUCK!
I listened to the second half on the radio driving home. Listening to JP Dellacamera was like going home again. As much as I love Sir Ian Darke, and I love him more than I love love, JP is still the voice of US soccer to me. JP and Ray were convinced that Ozil purposely shot wide at the end of the game when he had an easy goal? True?
So, it looks like Fred is not going to win any popularity contests. Why did they only take out their frustration on Fred?

nah, that Ozil shot was a bit of an angle and Julio Cesar cut down the angle, he actually played quite well.
Why Fred?, he's sucked the entire tournament. Everyone else at least tried and had some moments this month.
