Supposedly they’re going after Vrabel but wouldn’t an offensive minded coach to build around the one bright spot on the team be better?

Eliot Wolf better go to. Rumors are Vrabel with McDaniels returning to OC, but I think I'd rather have Flores.

Mayo sucked but this is on the Krafts. You don't say we knew he was next in line 5 years ago, and then not let him getting any head coaching experience or at least even be a full coordinator while waiting for Belichick to retire. And then don't bring in any assistants with much experience to even help him.

What the fuck makes you believe Maybe can play QB. Absolutely the right decision but tank the game fuckers. That's the sin not the growing pains. Kraft has a lot to learn and til then this is all for nothing. I'm happy to ride off the past 20 years. Just keep having lots of halftime team reunions and I won't bitch too much til 2045

Lou Anarumo (Bengals DC) out along with DL, LB coach as well as OL coach Frank Pollack.

Despite late season surge the past two years have shown Lou doesn't have the chops to change things up based on available talent. I was never a fan...I thought they got lucky in 2021 & 22 with minimal injuries but he never had the talent to run what he wanted to do.

Injuries aside, OL never jelled like it needed to. Cordell Volson's regression at G I think was a key indicator. Hate to see assistants lose jobs but Bengals needed to do something different.

The Athletic has a recap of a Bears' press conference from today listing exactly how cluttered their coach hiring process is going to be based on the sheer number of people who get to be present for interviews, despite them decreeing Ryan Poles getting to make the hire.

Likely a perfect way to get through a list of candidates like Mike McCarthy, Arthur Smith, and Mike Kafka.

Antonio Pierce probably isn’t a great coach, but saddling him with Aiden O’Connell, Gardner Minshew, and Desmond Ridder as his only options at quarterback is kind of like asking him to swim with ankle weights. And, of course, the GM who built that roster gets to keep his job.

I'm okay with Vrabel if he brings in McDaniels or another proven OC. Would really like them bring in Saleh as DC too. I think they have developed just 1 average offensive lineman and signed zero since Scarneccia retired in 2017 (maybe 2 if Strange can stay healthy), so coaching and the front office needs investments.

There is a lot of chatter that Saleh is headed back to SF to be DC again.

Kind of shitty of Jerrah to have refused the Bears the opportunity to interview him, although I guess they can later this week. I understand he would have resigned McCarthy if they could have agreed on term, but given that this impasse was foreseeable, not letting him interview was a dick move.

If I’m the Rooneys and anyone offers a package of draft picks for Tomlin I’m considering it.

That said I don’t think Tomlin is the reason that Pittsburgh mis-managed the transition from Roethlisberger to a parade of garbage at QB. In fact a lesser coach would have lost a lot more games the last 5 years.

He probably should have lost a few more. It's hard to go anywhere but retreads when you're a borderline WC team every year.

As for the Pats, I can see why they went Vrabel, but I really wish RKK would go outside the family. Vrabel is a good coach, but he's not a guy with a huge stable of contacts throughout the league and I really don't want to go back to the McDaniel's well. Rather we'd gone with Johnson. Swing for the fences and get an offensive coach so the OC that get's Maye balling isn't poached in 2 years.

Wouldn't that be an argument for McDaniels? No one is poaching him again.

Also not sure about the stable of contacts statement. He's been away from the Pats for quite some time with a lot of coaches without Patriots ties.

As for Johnson, there is still risk with first time head coaches with someone like McVay being the obvious exception, especially when the assistant is leaving a loaded roster to a dogshit roster. He should get tons of credit for developing that talent, but he did get a veteran QB and a generational offensive tackle.

The Bears have completed their 17th head coaching interview, which was with Eddie George, who has compiled a 24-22 record in four seasons at FCS level HBCU Tennessee State.

Aaron Glenn to the Jets? I’m torn, because he is one of my alltime favorite players, and I don’t want to hate him in 3 years. I know the Lions D had a ton of injuries, but they gave up a fuckton of points this year, but were carried by an alltime great offense. Not sure about this at all.

I think Glenn’s gonna be a better HC than Johnson when it’s all said and done though I don’t know if it’ll be with the Jets since they don’t have a QB.

I think it comes down first on who has the horses, right? Ben Johnson can be a great play caller who brings out the best in Caleb Williams. But, if your QB is regularly running for his life because they don’t have an offensive line, how can he succeed?

Yeah exactly. These guys don’t coach in a vacuum. The Lions have been successful the last three years more because of Brad Holmes drafting than anything Dan Campbell has done. Doesn’t mean Campbell isn’t a good coach but without Penei Sewell, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, Brian Branch etc doubt they’re a .500 team and the Lions are looking for a new coach again too this year.

If you’re a racist it’s a win-win! (Yeah seriously though they’re compensatory picks at the end of the third round if you have a minority coach/asst GM hired for a HC/GM job and they’ve been on your staff more than two years.
