Checking in on Drugs... Hoping things are able to calm down a bit.

Wildfires fucked shit up in Pasadena all the way out near the Getty estate.

My people still out in LA are good (I don't live out there any more - I'm supposed to get more snow today), as best I know, although I know a bunch of people who live north of the Hurst fire who work in the city. I don't really know anyone who lives in the Palisades, although I used to drive that section of the PCH to go to work daily very early in my work life.

The winds are a massive problem with the fast spreading. I have a friend who was in Vegas for work who was supposed to fly back today, but caught a ride with a co-worker instead because the winds are messing up flights into the LA area.

Trying to fight a fire in a tropical storm and sometimes hurricane-force wind gusts is crazy.

Driving down there from Salt Lake today. As long as Cajon Pass and the Inland Empire is spared I selfishly will be OK

The Tyler fire is near Coachella, CA, which should be further east than where you will be.

Checked on my LA peeps. Yes, I actually have one I know other than from a message board. Taping window seams, staying inside. Smoke and smell are pretty bad.

My friend's uncle lost his house in the Palisades. My friend and I stayed there my first night in Los Angeles when we moved out there in 1996 and later had him and his wife over to our apartment to thank them.

Odd (sad) coincidence:
Due to the fires, the Los Angeles Kings had to postpone tonight’s game against … the Flames.

And as Pete Blackburn tweeted. Last night, the Lightning just played their make up game against the Hurricanes, which was postponed because of a Hurricane.

I am OK, I live in Orange County. But I grew up in Pasadena and attended schools in Altadena. I just watched my middle school burn down on TV (Charles W Eliot Middle School). My old stomping grounds are gone. My folks are in the evacuation warning zone but it looks like they should be OK. Winds got up to 96 MPH in the middle of town. Thats insanity.

Chicago Fire FC match postponed due to catastrophic flooding?
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Tied with Mel Ott at Number 25 is Miguel Cabrera at 511.

Game in Astrodome postponed due to rain?

That was always a fun trivia thing, but now after all the extreme weather events that have affected sporting events over the past couple decades, it doesn't seem as crazy now.

It was remarkably awkward having them at our place.

Found out a couple nice people I know through work lost their homes in the fires. Not great.

It's like Southern California with this hot fire! Burn your house down, evacuate it's getting higher.

Anyone have these lyrics running through their head every time they see something on the LA fires? It's wrong and makes me laugh at the same time. Along with the rest of the lyrics.

Saw an old friend yesterday for the first time in awhile. He said the home of his mother-in-law was burned to the ground (San Fernando valley). Damn.
