NFL Wildcard Weekend

Post by degenerasian »

It's becoming an annual tradition. Wild Card weekend kicks off with the Houston Texans hosting the "insert AFC opponent here".

Chargers at Houston Saturday at 4:30
Steelers at Ravens Saturday at 8
Broncos at Bills Sunday at 1
Packers at Eagles Sunday at 4:30
Commanders at Bucs Sunday at 8:30
Looking like Vikings at Rams for Monday Night.
Kung Fu movies are like porn. There's 1 on 1, then 2 on 1, then a group scene..

Going to be a fun slate of games. I don't bet, so ignoring spreads:

Chargers, Ravens, Bills.

Eagles, Commanders, Vikings.

And if somehow we get a Chargers/Bills AFC Championship with a Vikings/Lions NFC Championship, it guarantees a first time Super Bowl champion for one of the franchises.

The guy gets one #1 seed and all the sudden he be talking shit. Remember the final playoff result of the last five teams that won at least 15 games.

If the browns were a top seed with a bye I'd be crowing all day long and my ties to them are nowhere near as long-standing as Brian's with the Lions. So long as it happens with Deshaun Watson in some kind of purgatory.

I never knew AB was a Browns fan. Did young AB fall asleep under a Frank Minnifield and Hanford Dixon poster?

Ok I got no response to this. I don't even understand how you wouldn't know that. Minnifield is from Lexington and went to the same high school as my oldest, though, so a decent stab!

I feel like we had a megathread in Ye Olde Swamp of everyone's favorite teams for posterity and reference purposes. We should probably bring that back.

If you gave me a list of 50 fairly prominent Swampers, I bet I could at least get everyone's favorite football and baseball teams off the top of my head.

To be fair to LJam, AB comes in around 80-85th most prominent.

5-1 vs. the NFC for the Ravens this season. 1-1 vs. playoff teams. The one loss was in the middle of the Justin Tucker "my foot doesn't work" phase. I would love to run it back against Philly.

Just realized it’s possible though exceptionally unlikely that the Rams and Chargers could both have home games back to back for the AFC and NFC Championship.

I wonder what the NFL’s contingency is for that. I assume one game would have to be moved to the next Monday night.

I'm kinda the same. I thought AB was a Bengals fan (or neutral observer?) who just happened to be a huge fan of Watson and the Browns "saving him from cancellation by the woke mobs".

Thank you... Fucking apparent Browns fans, think they can go on moaning about the Ravens, then wheel out some cunt in a Browns jersey with a load of ex QB names on his back, and then jump on the Watson bandwagon. Inconsistent U-turning retatds.

Why wouldn’t they put it in Vegas? According to google maps it’s about 90 minutes closer by car. Would the trip there bring it through more evacuation routes?

No would just be up 15 which knock on wood is clear since I’m in Barstow heading to LA tomorrow.

Allegiant Stadium availability could be an issue. Also hotel availability possibly because of CES.

One other thing is that the NFL has venues it seems to go back to when these things happen - usually Glendale for west coast and Detroit for Midwest so I wonder if they’re designated “emergency venues” and they have stuff already in place for these eventualities.

Football stadiums don't get used all that much. They have to reserve those weekends in case of playoffs, so you don't have problems with concerts or other events. The event staff are probably pretty easy to get lined up. Hotels are probably very doable. Figure the only real challenge is selling tickets and food.

And yes, the NFL has a playbook and team whose whole job is to prepare for and "fix" issues.
