Is this because he wants to leave?
Because this team overperformed, no?

Fred Armisen does an amazing Peyton Manning impression in that ad
Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
The Steelers have been outscored 129-16 in the first half of their last 6 playoff games.

Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
Right. They might have over performed overall but not in the first half last night. Listening to the end of the first half on the radio on the way home last night, and hearing the announcer (Golic Sr, I think) just kill their effort and general vibe, was probably the first time I’ve believed Tomlin’s job might actually be in trouble, too.Jerloma wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2025 1:11 pm The Steelers have been outscored 129-16 in the first half of their last 6 playoff games.

Dunno! Could a better coach have gotten more out of Fields instead?
Dunno!
Is there a better coach available?

Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
Pretty sure there isn’t a coach alive (or ever, for that matter) that would’ve coached this Steelers team past this year’s Ravens’ squad.

Tomlin was a coach of the year favorite at some point deep in this season.
I don't think this team was very good.
Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
James Cook's nickname is Jimbo? This is like when I found out Peyton Manning's nickname was The Sheriff.

He was slightly better last season if you put any stock in QBR. 6-6 as a starter vs. 7-8 last year. Not that Russ' late season regression or early success fall solely on Tomlin anyway.Would a better coach have gotten more out of Russell Wilson?
There's just a trend over the last decade of his teams getting worse as the season goes on and the narrative among Tomlin apologists is always that they overperform when they win; but never that they underperform when they lose.

Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
Don't think it was effort and vibe that got Fitzpatrick facepalmed by Derrick Henry.
Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
LOL at the refs calling a personal foul on the receiver that got trucked, and not the lineman standing over him who was trying to rip the ball from his hands.
One is automatic taunting. The other is a judgement call. Good grief.

No dog in this fight. Just as an outside observer, he seems like one of the best coaches in the league.
I do get that sometimes teams need a shake-up.
Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
Oh, I know that. I'm just saying, that's a narrative that's been fed to peripheral observers. Nobody is defining Tomlin by that loss last night. It's much more of a cumulative thing.garyclark wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2025 2:11 pmJerloma wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2025 2:03 pmgaryclark wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2025 1:01 pm Is this because he wants to leave?

Robert Kraft deserves everything he's about to get.
And speaking of derrick Henry. We sure that toughness was vrabel or the benefits of having a generational big back

Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
Was that really a head shot on Davis. Looked shoulder to shoulder initially, which jerked his head back. Hope he is ok though...

He is spot on here. These types of clown shows happen constantly, multiple times per game, and seemingly never get fixed. The standard is the standard.

At least the Broncos had a moment of hope. I don’t feel too bad, because my expectations were always low.

Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
American National Anthem ffs, my other half thought he was going to break off into the theme for Cagney and Lacey. Get a decent anthem and just sing please you bunch of cunts.
Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
Possibly an unpopular take, I prefer the national anthem as an instrumental unless it’s an A-level vocalist/chorus.

Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
Ever since SCOTUS ruled to stop the count, I couldn't care less about the national anthem. It's mute time or I'll change the channel. So yeah, I've been checked out on it for the past 24-25 years.

Seeing Jeremiah Trotter, Jr., wearing his Dad’s number, in the mix of a special teams scrum puts a smile on my face.

Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
Wow. Was that a great play by Slay? Or a craptastic pass by Jordan Love...

Much more the former than the latter.

Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
I mean, I guess?? but at no point was the receiver open on that play, and Slay simply turned and caught a pass that was thrown right at him.
Actually, the wideout should've just mugged him and taken the OPI.

Re: NFL Wildcard Weekend
If you want to put the blame on Love, then you say that he should’ve either (a) not thrown to him for being that covered, or (b) try to overthrow the spot so the only guy who could get it would be the receiver.

Now that one is definitely 100% Love’s fault.

Well I guess those things players are putting over their helmets may not help? Romeo Doubs landed badly and was helped to the locker room.
