If you’re a racist it’s a win-win! (Yeah seriously though they’re compensatory picks at the end of the third round if you have a minority coach/asst GM hired for a HC/GM job and they’ve been on your staff more than two years.
Doesn’t punishing the Jets for hiring a black coach disincentivize hiring a black HC? If Glenn were White, the Jets don’t lose their 3rd rounder? Trump needs to extend his executive order to the NFL.

I'd imagine these aren't Jets picks, but end of round compensatory picks.

Chedda is right of course, but I’m assuming some Trumper will scream about dei to the league and they will get rid of all the Rooney rules.

Right. Jets lose no picks. These are just league-awarded picks to incentivize minority hiring for assistant jobs.

Thanks, I’ve always read “compensatory” and assumed the league required a team to compensate another team with a pick. This makes lot more sense.

If they give draft picks for minority coaches why don't they do the same for white defensive backs huh???

(Its kinda gross that rule even needs to be in place.)

And that article is a day old and mentions Tampa's OC withdrawing from consideration in Jacksonville but the news late yesterday is that he's reconsidered and is "expected" to coach the Jags.

Impressed you managed to not previously mention that in here, at least not directly.

Looks like he spent a lot of time in RI, would be funny if one of the RI swampers knew him, too.

Coen had more power than any actual Jags coach other than Meyer before being on the payroll.

Surely I did at some point. Maybe in the AB watches his neighborhood thread or something. He lived there for about 6 months. never there except late late late. wife and kid usually there, we sat in our driveways during trick or treat next to them. the wife and her friend were nice, but I only ever talked to him about a package he was expecting.

I need to do some cursory research, but I would guess that the 2025 AFC West is set to be the first division with 3 SB-winning coaches, let alone 4 coaches with SB appearances

Gotta admit. Hiring Pete Carroll appears to be… pretty sound. Especially considering it’s the Raiders.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Tied with Mel Ott at Number 25 is Miguel Cabrera at 511.

I was figuring it was the NFC East. I had gotten back to 2006, the last season of Gibbs v2 but that was a year before Coughlin's first

I'm a member of a particularly popular Bucs' messageboard (don't post all that often), and they are in full meltdown mode over Coen leaving to become the HC of the Jags. They're calling out his integrity and ethics for talking out of both sides of his mouth, and having had the Bucs draw up a new contract to have him become (I think?) the highest paid OC in the game.

These are people who, I'm guessing 95 out of every 100 posters voted straight red the past several years, and most certainly voted DeSantis and Trump.

They even possess enough critical thinking skills to appreciate the nuance of all the tweets of speciously sourced inside stories breaking in realtime. But no doubt they watch Fox and worse non-stop.

All this crap about people just being stupid is horse shit. They're willfully ignorant by shutting off their brains to things they don't care to know the truth about.

There are maybe three or four posters whose pre-game or post-game thoughts I care to follow. The community's thoughts pre-draft is pretty solid, too. But these people are dark. They can break football down a hundred different ways, can see inconsistencies in why this or that play might've been the wrong way to go (and provide examples to prove their points), but completely shut off when it comes to their critical thinking skills come election time. Just a fun reminder that these folks aren't as dumb as we think they are.

It was reported last offseason that Ben Johnson's asking price was $15 million a season and, now that he has been hired, is reportedly trying to get former Saints head coach Dennis Allen as his DC (and Darren Rizzi, their special teams coach who became the Saints' interim coach when Allen got fired).

Chicago is notoriously cheap franchise.

When I combine these two things, my brain keeps circling back to the trouble the franchise has been having getting a new stadium off the ground and the possibility they may now view spending a lot of money on their coaching staff as an investment because if the team becomes good, the skids get greased on a stadium a lot more easily.

Crazy how Texans OC Bobby Slowik went from a hot head coaching candidate last offseason to looking for a job this one. Never seen Texans twitter more united.
