So glad I can just enjoy these games without really giving a shit about the outcome. Sorry for you Mahomes haters.
I am slightly torn because the Bills are the team I think I'd lean towards preferring, but Buffalo losing to the Eagles in the SB and completing the quadfecta of loss against the NFC East would be funny.

I got 6.5 and 1.5 for the dogs tomorrow. So, a bit of a wash I guess.

Unless the refs really are in the tank for the Chiefs which I don’t really believe no way the Bills don’t roll tomorrow.

I have both favorites. KC until someone proves they can beat them, Philadelphia because Washington has gone too far already. Book it.
Re: NFL Conference Championships 2025
As a fan since I was a kid, I hated Commanders at first. Strongly preferred Washington Football Team (love Utah Hockey Club as well). It has started to grow on me though ... a bit. Washington Hogs would be my preference though. A nod to the club's fabled history with a bit of a sneer towards the lobbyists and electeds that work there.
And I think there are worse name in pro sports than Commanders, including my Wizards (ugh). I also don't like Texas Rangers (you're racist thuggish cops?). Braves. Chiefs. Blackhawks. Hornets. Predators. Golden Knights.
In terms of modern teams not changing names, I'm sure there are grizzly bears in Tennessee. But I find it weird they didn't change when the team moved from Vancouver.

I still don’t understand how “predators” made it past “someone suggested it and everyone else in the room pointed out it’ll make the team sound like perverts”.

99% certain there are no grizzly (brown) bears east of the Mississippi. Black bears over here.garyclark wrote: Sat Jan 25, 2025 4:56 pm As a fan since I was a kid, I hated Commanders at first. It would certainly appear so. We like rocking the 80s style between that and powder blue and burgundy.

This ad for the book I recommended in the book thread... Mickey 7... Movie looks like it might be a lot better than the book, and I loved the book.

That's his thing, though. It's not that he's trying to prove anything, he would just much rather hang in there and find the play in the air.

I guess the not chasing after 2 point conversions early in a game that is going to have many more scores is a thing of the past.
Re: NFL Conference Championships 2025
Which team is Lattimore playing for today?
Re: NFL Conference Championships 2025
AJ Brown rips a helmet off Lattimore and the penalty is just on Lattimore? Can replay review check that, or is Troy Vincent still there calling the shots?
Re: NFL Conference Championships 2025
Yeah I don't see how or why it was only on Lattimore. Unsportsmanlike on both players, cuz that's really what that was. Still, Marshon Lattimore is a fucking prick who has spent his career instigating and getting under the opposing WR1's skin. So if that's payback for a career's worth of dirty play? I'm fine with it.EdRomero wrote: Sun Jan 26, 2025 4:26 pm AJ Brown rips a helmet off Lattimore and the penalty is just on Lattimore? Re: NFL Conference Championships 2025
And then a late hit because his foot touched out of bounds a millisecond before getting hit, so everyone agrees with the call. Better hold off on that hit against the best running back in the world as he heads to the sideline.
Re: NFL Conference Championships 2025
Yeah time was a factor which means Barkley definitely wouldn't have turned and trucked the miniaturized DB once he obviously let up on the play.EdRomero wrote: Sun Jan 26, 2025 4:32 pm And then a late hit because his foot touched out of bounds a millisecond before getting hit, so everyone agrees with the call. Re: NFL Conference Championships 2025
At this point I would just walk off the field before the snap and give the refs the finger. The guy jumping over the line twice in a row deserved a warning, but on the next play the Eagles were trying to draw DC offsides and it was a completely different defensive action.
Re: NFL Conference Championships 2025
Commanders got zero calls, including a CLEAR hold early that resulted in 7 for Philly when the game was close. The booth even called in the in-house rules expert on that one, who confirmed it as a bad call.
But ultimately, Washington lost because three of their RBs fumbled. Self-inflicted wounds cost them the game.
It was a heluva run. And for the first time in decades, it feels like the team clearly has something great to build on.

Also, this just makes me happy in so many different ways.
Re: NFL Conference Championships 2025
So they called a very late formation flag on the Bills. Nantz mentions that and throws it to Gene for an explanation, and Gene either misunderstands or pretends to and just explains what the penalty means rather than the process that led to it being called. Is that what just happened?
I don’t think Gene likes replay assist.
