Secret Covid?

Post by Square Rob »

Don’t wanna be conspiratorial, but are any of your areas having a huge brutal sickness hitting lots of people? Two separate acquaintances have passed away in the last six weeks. For both funerals they were able to book a church only after two weeks because of backlog. I caught something three weeks ago that brought me to my knees. Felt 100% like Covid. Was short of breath, aches, and my heart was racing weirdly. Took Covid tests and was clear. Saw a news article on Twitter about some 40 something actress dying from pneumonia complications from the flu.

I’m telling you, it feels like Covid. Add in the weird instructions that went out to CDC and health agencies on trump day one to not send any communications…

there's been a respiratory thing going around these parts since just before Christmas. I actually had COVID and the paxlovid helped a lot (despite tasting like ass), but wife, SIL and niece all had generic respiratory diagnoses. Probably a 2-3 week time frame to get over it.

Mine was three weeks ago, and my heart still feels funky. I never felt that until covid.

I had something about a month ago that lasted 3 weeks. My wife has had it for about a month and is pretty much over it but coughs still. Kids both missed school but recovered quicker. Productive but nasty sounding cough and chest cold. Chills and fever. Kid had diarrhea. Did not feel it in my heart but did feel sort of like covid. Negative though. Not good. Self prescribed antibiotics seemed to help but probably not the right call.

Curious what geographical areas you all are in.

My family in upstate NY (Rochester area) has told us that everyone is getting sick. My brother's kids go to a small private school of 150 kids. They canceled school this week because 70 of the kids have covid, noro, or some other flu.

There's some respiratory thing from hell going around Baltimore/northern maryland. I have had two bouts of it since Dec. 25 - bronchitis was the diagnosis each time but...dunno. Negative covid test though. I did get the Covid vax and flu vax in December.

I don't think this is a conspiracy theory at this point. My wife has been sick for almost 2 weeks and she works with ppl all over the country and 4 or 5 of her team of a dozen or so are so sick they've called out all week. (not the culture of that place, at all.)

My daughter in Denver is also out with bronchitis.

Yes, I have heard something like this and then today a guy that was supposed to come down from Tampa and meet with my company had to cancel due to an "upper respiratory infection". I figured this is what it was.

My daughter said there’s been an unusual amount of kids out sick. She said it’s mostly norovirus and flu and some COVID. Norovirus seems more of a stomach thing.

Also, anecdotally, I was at CVS picking up a Z-pack for the wife and I've never seen that place that crowded. I felt like an idiot for not having a mask.

I have to back again today and best believe I'm packing a mask.

Wife was really sick a few weeks back (starting MLK weekend when we traveled to Chicago), then she had a surgery and a bear of a time recovering. She's back to normal now, but had a massive amount of brain fog that we attributed to just a bad cold plus anaesthesia and surgery recovery. No one else in the house caught it.

It’s akin to having food poisoning for a couple days, so it really sucks. Also it’s very contagious.

I saw something last week (I think it was from some right wing guy on Twitter so you know it has to be true) that the Chinese dropped a new "WuFlu" (term that was used, not mine) in Washington DC on inauguration day.

I had our company SKO last week in San Diego. I'm fine, but I've heard that a lot of people came back sick. But I wasn't aware of any of this stuff you guys are talking about in this thread. Sounds both bad and widespread. I'll ask my wife about her students.
