Quite the response from Forest.
Re: EPL 2024-25
This Fulham match is huge today for the Magpies, because the second half of this month is brutal for them.
Three straight league matches: at City, hosting Forest, at Anfield. This is such a competitive league.
Would also really like to advance in the Cups.

Ipswich and Southampton is a definite 6 pointer.
Re: EPL 2024-25
Picked the wrong morning to get up early and watch Brighton. At least my son that adopted Nottingham as his team early this year wasn’t awake for it.
Re: EPL 2024-25
Bournemouth hosts Liverpool in a few minutes On USA Network.
IMO they’re playing with house money at this point.

So I’m too lazy to look it up, but one of the things Liverpool has going for them is they appeared to have a size advantage on many of those one on one battles for control of the ball, and they’re not giving up much on the speed trade off (if at all), either.

And they shit the bed. Officiating was poor but they were not sharp today when they needed to be. 2 home defeats on the bounce. May that 9 game win streak was more about playing opponents at the right time rather than domination by this group.garyclark wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 8:36 am This Fulham match is huge today for the Magpies, because the second half of this month is brutal for them.

Bournemouth beat Forest by 5 last week, so this clearly means they are 12 goals better than Brighton, right?tennbengal wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 5:02 pmOOFphxgators wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 9:46 am Picked the wrong morning to get up early and watch Brighton

That was one of those scores that doesn’t register for the first few seconds because it seems so off.

Huge win for Spurs this morning. You could see the relief on Ange's face at the end.

Re: EPL 2024-25
I think the huge thing for Liverpool this season is that they have a deeper bench than anyone else. With the exceptions of Salah and Big Virg, they have credible backups for every other position.EnochRoot wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 12:09 pm So I’m too lazy to look it up, but one of the things Liverpool has going for them is they appeared to have a size advantage on many of those one on one battles for control of the ball, and they’re not giving up much on the speed trade off (if at all), either.
Re: EPL 2024-25
A costly, and completely avoidable, loss for Newcastle yesterday. Among their worst performances of the season. I think they'll be lucky to get into Europe.
Pool, Arse, Forest look like Champions League. With City, Chelsea, and Bournemouth fighting for the 4th spot. Villa, Newcastle, and Fulham will battle with the two that lose out for Europa.
I know the EPL might get a 5th CL spot. If that happens, do they still get three for Europa, or does that go down to 2?

Stay hum-bul-eh, Erling! That Arsenal-City game was one of the most fun games I can remember. Love seeing the teenagers pitching in with 2 beautiful goals.

The crowd did the Poznan after Havertz goal:
And then they played Kendrick's "Humble" at the end of the game:

Re: EPL 2024-25
The internet didn’t seem to appreciate Arsenals shithousery, but I feel it’s well deserved after Haaland threw the ball at the back of Gabriel’s head in their last meeting after City scored the equalizer in injury time. I can’t fathom how he didn’t get at least a 3 match can for that. I’d think VAR would have issued a red, and if not, PGMOL should have suspended him.

I love how Mo Salah takes penalties. He doesn't futz around doing the elaborate stutter step, hop/skip/jump nonsense. He just runs up and lashes it home.

The ended up losing, but 3rd tier Leyton Orient took the lead against Man City on a crazy own goal.

Maaaaybe.
The completely rose-colored glasses through which you view everything City is endearing given your bias towards objectivity when viewing your other teams.

Liverpool better get their act together...currently down 1-0 to Plymouth Argyle, thanks to a handball penalty on Harvey Elliot.

As an NUFC fan, I think I’d prefer Liverpool stay in as many competitions as possible until the Carabao Cup final.cerranoredux wrote: Sun Feb 09, 2025 11:22 amLove to see it.DaveInSeattle wrote: Sun Feb 09, 2025 11:21 am Liverpool better get their act together...currently down 1-0 to Plymouth Argyle, thanks to a handball penalty on Harvey Elliot.

This account of the Villa-Newcastle Boxing Day tunnel clash is a fun read.
It involved some pushing and shoving, a Wham hoodie, and a reference to an unidentified Aston Villa Man in Black.

Back in my day, a real Newcastle-Villa fight would involve actual punches being thrown.
Between Newcastle players.
