You don't have to dig that deep. It's a betrayal on all fronts.

I love all the interviews with Trump voters who are impacted by his actions suddenly angry and looking for sympathy. “He said he was going to do all this horrible shit, but I didn’t think it’d effect me!”mister d wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 11:29 am "Aww c'mon you can't take his literal words literally he's just goofin' around and trying to look tough just let him have his fun and carry on."
What percentage of veterans and active military voted for him? I’m guessing very high. How many will still support him after all the job eliminations of jobs largely held by vets, and firing 80,000 VA employees when the VA was drastically understaffed to begin with?

And HC, are you really suggesting that Canadians should not be mad about threatened tariffs that are based on lies?

I was confused by the Chicago airport reference and thought, isn't it called O'Hare, and I live over 3000 miles away.

Mark Carney I'd the new Prime Minister of Canada.

In terms of radicalizing people who need it with minimal immediate deaths, this would probably be a good thing.

This is our entire dilemma. The Rs will only get drummed out if things get really bad for a lot of people.

A massive market crash and depression would be great for Democratic prospects (as well as democratic prospects). But I want to retire soon and live off my 401k.

Jesus Christ, what a Monday.
Wife was told of an all hands today at noon. She gets on that and they announce that in 2 minutes, everyone will get an email. One group is getting RIF'd, the other is staying on.
The wait is more than five minutes... Wife is being kept on.
I almost had a fucking heart attack. Unbelievable how stressful all of this is... But we can breath again. We've been worried about this for months.

Happy to hear she is staying on, but I know how bad that wait sucks. Still going to be a difficult transition for those staying. Fuck everything about this administration.Nonlinear FC wrote: Mon Mar 10, 2025 11:17 am Jesus Christ, what a Monday.

That’s not the way I’m looking at it. On 12/17/24, investors were bullish on Tesla as they saw Tesla’s CEO working closely with the incoming president and that union could raise its price by making it a good investment. Eight weeks into the new administration, investors are so spooked by the CEO and/or the administration that they left en masse, so much so that it lost half its value.Steve of phpBB wrote: Mon Mar 10, 2025 10:51 amSure, but it's still twice what it was back when we were all sure it was in a death spiral.

I wonder how much of TSLA's stock climb was fueled by savvy investors thinking about profits and future stock price and how much was driven by people saying "I like Elon Musk."

Think how bad a person has to be fucking everything up for them to be working with the literal President, and investors are like “I gotta sell this guy’s company; I don’t want to be left holding the bag.”Steve of phpBB wrote: Mon Mar 10, 2025 11:42 amFair point.L-Jam3 wrote: Mon Mar 10, 2025 11:35 amThat’s not the way I’m looking at it. Trump on the toilet again
@realDonaldTrump
Despite the fact that Canada is charging the USA from 250% to 390% Tariffs on many of our farm products, Ontario just announced a 25% surcharge on “electricity,” of all things, and your not even allowed to do that. Because our Tariffs are reciprocal, we’ll just get it all back on April 2. Canada is a Tariff abuser, and always has been, but the United States is not going to be subsidizing Canada any longer. We don’t need your Cars, we don’t need your Lumber, we don’t your Energy, and very soon, you will find that out. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!

That's exactly it. They're more scared of personal backlash than they are of anything that's taking place right now. Counteraction can't be disavowed, it has to be defended.
(And obviously this could be, you just point out all the times Republicans tried to shut down for things far less than preserving jobs or social security or the dept of ed or etc, but they simply won't do that. There's no sense of responsibility to act.)
