Re: John Feinstein
Worthy of a mention maybe
Re: John Feinstein
Definitely thread worthy. The Last Amateurs is one of my favorite sports books of all time.

Really enjoyed Season on the Brink (the one about Bobby Knight).

Oh wow... It's weird how some names hit harder than others. A few of his books are some of my all-time favorite non-fiction pieces.
Season on the Brink was incredible, as was A Good Walk Spoiled.

That sucks. I’ve read/listened to a bunch of his books. I worked on the Ravens’ sideline for a portion of the season he covered the team for his book Next Man Up.
My buddy who worked the whole season on the sideline actually got a mention in the credits of the book because every week he would see Feinstein down there and jokingly tell him how to spell his last name correctly for the book mention. And Feinstein obliged.
The Punch is great read about the Kermit Washington punch to Rudy T. So many great books.

Agree with you all but the Duke bias makes it difficult
Re: John Feinstein
So Fridays with Feinstein was fun on the sportsjunkies morning show in DC for years. About 2 months ago the station decided to move on from his regular hit. He had also moved out of DC to Farmville, VA. He was teaching at a university and living with his son from his first marriage (part of the move was he had gotten divorced from his 2nd wife recently as well). Sounded like his son needed the support (and young daughter from 2nd marriage). Sad news.
Great story teller. Used to see him writing in the Barnes and Noble in Bethesda. And crumugian. Always said Season the Brink bought his ex-wife a great house on fire island.

I give passes to people who actually went to those places.

His best book was probably the one about the Army-Navy Game IMO.

I liked The Majors. Covered all four majors in one year. Think a book version of that Netflix show if you aren’t familiar.

Also all of his more recent books are road trip audiobooks. His writing style and storytelling just help miles go by

I drove Feinstein and Feherty from the Omni in Boston to the US Open in Brookline in 22. Super cool guy. He was shadowing Feherty for a few weeks to write a book about him. He was talking a lot of shit about Mickelson and LIV but Feherty wasn't really biting and being very coy. A month later, he went to LIV.
