I assume that's the theory, right? The cable television watching public would be distracted by the big disaster and ignore all the shit they're doing in the meantime.

But that's approaching all of this from the standpoint that they are trying to hide anything. They are most decidedly NOT trying to hide what they are doing... That's the point of the exercise--to play to their base and their largest donors.mister d wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:44 pm I assume that's the theory, right? You can lead a horse to fish, but you can't fish out a horse.
Re: AA 5342
Yeah, not saying I buy it, but they are getting the benefit of distraction when it comes to a group that in theory could care.
Re: AA 5342
Yeah, none of it makes any sense and furthermore I have no idea how you would turn an army pilot into a suicide bomber. I think my only train of thought is that they're so evil that I wouldn't put it past them.
Like, there's a sliver of me that stills thinks the assassination attempt could have been fixed too even though I know that's ridiculous.

I dunno about all of that. If the spending/grant freeze hadn't have been leaked, they likely would have implemented it before the lawsuits and subsequent injunctions got put in place.Nonlinear FC wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:53 pmBut that's approaching all of this from the standpoint that they are trying to hide anything. I did see some posts on Bluesky yesterday noting that CNN was covering nothing but the crash with zero on the governmental takeover.mister d wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:44 pmI assume that's the theory, right? I'm not sure what you mean by "leaked." It was put out as a formal "thing," and then everyone freaked out for 24-36 hours until the federal judge shut it down. As you know, millions of federal employees were affected directly or indirectly by the order.sancarlos wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 7:29 pmI dunno about all of that. If you search "leaked" and "grants", you'll find plenty of confirmation that it first became public through a leak.Nonlinear FC wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 2:34 pmI'm not sure what you mean by "leaked." We are in a semantics loop. Not a big deal in the grand scheme.
You can lead a horse to fish, but you can't fish out a horse.

Another plane crash today in Scottsdale. Not a lot of details but sounds like a Learjet hit a stationary business jet on runway after landing.

Trump is right, if we removed all reporting of these events, they didn't happen. That was his stated goal during COVID, stop tracking positive tests, and we stop the pandemic.Jerloma wrote: Mon Feb 10, 2025 6:04 pm Another plane crash today in Scottsdale. Re: AA 5342
We flew last Thursday and Sunday, and ngl the turbulence was fucking scary at a couple points then I just started to imagine how these people had no idea this was happening. Like one second you’re about to make it to your destination and seconds later just nothing. I had to shake away that thought on the descent home yesterday. I hope they didn’t either feel anything or have time to realize what had happened before they hit the water.

I’m not sure if this is the right thread, or “near death experiences,” but holy shit.

That is a really good read. That women was able to express what happened and her feelings very well in the aftermath.

Totally Kafkaesque
Re: AA 5342
flew to Houston (did see GIff in the lunchroom) last week
usual flight, no problems..
but for some reason the pilot on the outward bound flight decided, once the doors were closed, to let all of us know that despite all the recent issues w planes, he would get us to Houston safely (i mean, he did).. wtf? why even say anything? lots of nervous chatter -- then i put my headphones back on and forgot all about it.
but seriously? why? just do your job!

Helicopter went down in the Hudson a few hours ago. Assuming its one of those tourist ones that you have to be insane to get on.
Re: AA 5342
With this one, and the one with the Republican congressmen on board one of the colliding planes at DCA, maybe just re-title this thread “Air Crashes under Trump”.
